I am a man
With thoughts like the bulbs of every headlight
You’ve ever seen
Numerous
Though few are so bright
With their zero watts of cleverly harnessed electricity
Yet, they manage to shape my world
As you and I plan to stay high
And somehow do what we’re told
I eat at the bell
Sleep when the sun goes down
But I will not yield to a wasted life
I’m expected to go from hard earned education
To harder earned education
To an even harder earned currency
So I can survive in a world, that turns me more and more into a zombie

But I will not yield, to a wasted life
I will not be the tassel at the end of your shoelace
I will be surrounded by life as significant as my own
I will feel skin on skin
I will see my family rich with love
I will hear rushing water
I will smell fresh morning
I will taste satisfaction
Knowing
I no longer hold the weight of the man I could be.
Knowing my world is not a time bomb
But a seed
In the grasp of a bird
To be dropped where I wish
I will live my life
