Eternal river, you carry my sorrow.
You swallow the anguish, yet ask not to borrow.
Your waves of change, dare float away the pain.
You roll off the suffering, with nothing to gain.
How maternal your keeping; selfless, pure.
River you keep me, you surest of sure.
These aches you've made fleeting, grab with them a side.
This grief, ever leaving, takes with it my pride.
My ego you snag? But... I will be undone!
Identity, my haven! it kills that you run.
Joy can't be felt by a man of no name!
The happy, the glad, please keep them the same.
Time flows on by: you steal that precious sand!
I feel you creeping colder, soon I will be damned.
Your grasp is right impartial, as I dissolve among your crest.
My life you have consumed; I ride the ageless rest.
No feelings or awareness, yet wholly I'm not gone.
old pain and pride still live in thee, together we stream on.
Forward through the eras, your motions never cease.
Tranquil and undying, this spring shows me peace.
Your water makes me perfect, but how? How can this be?
I see now river, Before and forever, you are me.
