2. Comparing Buddhism to Christianity is comparing apples to oranges. The two really aren’t the same thing. One is a monotheistic religion with rules, standards, dogmas, etc and the other is a teaching, a guide to how to live your life. You can see how the two aren’t mutually exclusive, and if you really wanted, you could have both (there are people who do this). While some may say that worshipping Buddha conflicts with worshipping a Christian God, any true Buddhist will tell you that the two do not conflict because you aren’t worshipping Buddha, you are merely following his teachings and lifestyle.
Side note about being friends: talk to me about Christianity. I was raised Catholic and while I have a lot of questions and concerns about the church, I refound Christianity after studying medieval philosophy. I know why a lot of young people stop believing in God, but I think God is such a strict term for the modern world that we fail to see what else God can be.
