So I was wondering what everyone on there thinks about body hair, or hair in general.
As mammals, we have hair on all of our body, some parts thicker than others. Certain societies shave it in certain ways depending on their cultures, etc. Some people feel so uncomfortable with it that they go through painful waxing or laser treatments, including for body parts that may seem insignificant like your arms or something.
Mainly, I think of body hair in our sexual body parts. A lot of media or pornos might depict women who wax, shave, and are completely bare down there. I wonder, do men like it like this? Are there any guys out there that actually like a women who goes all natural?
Do any women expect men to maintain themselves as well?
This might seem like a weird topic, but it’s something I often find myself curious about…I hear some girls who stop shaving down there, in efforts to make sure that they don’t end up sleeping with someone (i.e. they meet someone at the bar but would be too embarassed to show their unshaved cootch to them and so it saves them the trouble of sleeping around). Just wondering how guys or people in general actually feel about this!
Physical attraction is such a lousy thing to have to deal with. I mean I definitely wish that I could be attracted to people based purely on their personalities. Unfortunately I have to deal with these stupid biases based on how people look, and lots of times I don’t know where the biases come from.
I cant deal with armpit hair or much leg hair really. Call me a misogynist if you wan’t, but I can’t control what I’m attracted to.. probably. As far as pubic hair goes, I keep myself clean down there and I would prefer that my partners do also. Its mostly just a cleanliness thing. Those are some of the hottest and sweatiest parts of the body, and some of the most important to keep clean. Having a rug in your pants doesn’t help with either of those things.
Just my opinion. Honestly, I don’t really care how any of you decorate your privates. Im just saying what works for me.
Haha I guess I should share my opinion since I’m the one who posted. Personally I clean myself up…I even wax sometimes basically because those parts of your body do get dirty so I agree mostly with Bobby. But sometimes I feel lazy, like hate shaving my legs in every shower and I”m like, wtf do I do all this for anyway??
@ Andy somehow I can never see a penis as being feminine. I dont feel like hair is the defining trait of masculinity. A penis is like the stem of all masculine archetypes, the idea of it being feminine is ridiculous. Maybe looking childish is a possibility
Pausing oral sex to pull a hair outta yer mouth isn’t sexy at all. The less hair down there (for men and women) the cleaner it is. It’s that simple to me. I like a little hair, but it has to be minimal and groomed. If you’re sexually active I expect that and hold myself to the same standard.
As a woman, I shave “down there”, when I feel like it. And that is more often, than not! Not for anyones preference, besides my very own. I might go a week without shaving at the very most, but I feel like having a few prickles, compared to a full out BUSH, is very different. If I have too much hair “down there”, it makes me uncomfortable. Mainly bc I hate wearing underwear, and ya know what? If you wear jeans without underwear, that shit will rub, and annoy the FUCK out of you. Not only that, but ladies, wearing underwear actually CAUSES yeast infections. Research it. I don’t shave my lady parts for any man, or even for visual gratification.. I get rid of it for comfort. Werd?
Actually, hair is there to protect you from dirt. It is like a barrier. I got this from medical experts and not just my own opinion. Having said that…well, it is just a thing we are socialized to accept or not. In the winter, I don’t shave or wax; in the summer, if I wear a bathing suit, I do. I think it looks and feels nice, but as far as being right or wrong, it is just a personal thing.
@ Dana – Werd =]
@ pat – You’re right. The hair is there to protect the goods from dirt and grime but that makes said hair gross. It’s a good evolutionary protection. We’re past needing it now though. Because we shower regularly. Get rid of the dirt receiving/collecting hair, keep yourself clean, enjoy better sex play. That’s just me…I got nothing against some dirty play though!
I honestly don’t remember the last time I was with a dude who didn’t shave down there..er at least keep it really tidy. I’m not gonna go as far to say I “expect” men or anyone to do it.. butt a lot of hair is a fersher turnoff, nothing I can do about it. The thought of an untamed mane is kinda grody to me. I have to shave below the belt regularly–or like Dana said, the hair’ll just annoy the fuck out of me (werd!!).
@ Bridget~I wish smooth legs weren’t so sexy… bc it’s a pain in the ass (imo) to shave them regularly. It’s really a lot of surface area to cover I think :) Lately (like since Fall started)-I just let them go, I really don’t give a fuck. Unless I’m wearing shorts or getting laid…both of which aren’t happening anytime soon.
@ Andy~totally know what you mean :) I also think chicks that shave it ALL look weird… like kids or something. I like there to be at least ‘some’ hair.. little run way, landing strip..something.
@ Adam~ shut up.
Hey now, let’s play nice.
it seems we’re all coming to a general consensus that we all appreciate some grooming from our partners.
as for the shaving… yes, i wanted to say “they look like a little kid” but was weirded out by the statement. thanks to those who could say what i couldn’t lol.
I’ve noticed that in Australia TONS of guys shave their legs. wtf is with that? most of the guys are sporty and athletic but seriously, there’s no REAL purpose unless your a professional swimmer or something. it irks me for personal reasons but what do you guys think about it?
I shave my face and I trim the hair in my groin area, I leave the rest as it is. My body hair grows too fast, I wouldn’t be able to keep it at bay anyway.
I don’t mind some hair on women, except on the legs and the butt. And I’m not a fan of bald pussies, they just look weird and smell bad, fortunately most girls over here aren’t waxed down there. Worst of all are stubbles, biggest turnoff ever, they look fucking horrible and feel even worse. I don’t go near that shit. I like a nice, trimmed bush.
Those who think it’s cleaner to remove genital hair are dead wrong. The hair leads away the sweat, protects against dirt and keeps the levels right. Especially for women, removing too much will cause all kinds of nasty shit and bad smells.
This is a very interesting post.
Manimal is absolutely right. My gyno told me that keeping myself completely bald down there was a very unsanitary idea. It’s is very easy for women to get infections as it is, and shaving/waxing everything makes you even more susceptible.
Shaving my legs and armpits is the most annoying thing in the world, especially in this freezing season. I hate going out and getting goosebumps after I just shaved…
I am however the biggest fan of smooth legs, that’s why I decided to get laser hair removal so I won’t have to deal with shaving my legs all the time. I have a groupon account (I AM NOT SOME SPONSOR OR ANNOYING SPAM POSTING ACCOUNT; I PROMISE). I am just trying to help you out in case you were thinking about it and thought it was too expensive. I’m getting my legs done for only $300. Not too bad for possibly never having to deal with that again.
The whole guys shaving legs thing irks me too, Andy. I’m of the exact same mind. I also laugh at men who shave their chests and torso hair. Keeping it trim and tidy is a must, but shaving all the business off is just weird to me.
@Em – Quit stalking me.
I’m right on your ass, Adam.. watch yo back!
Butt yeah… I knew guys that shaved their chest, and then if they let it go awhile.. they’d have ingrown hairs & stumble..which on your chest is just weirrrrd.
@ Daniella~ that’s not bad for $300! Does the lazer hair removal work though? I think I heard it sometimes does/sometimes doesn’t. Have you done it at all before?
In 200 years I’ll be a skeleton but this seems like a lovely debate.
@Bobby “Physical attraction is such a lousy thing to have to deal with. I mean I definitely wish that I could be attracted to people based purely on their personalities.”
Aye, same here. It’s a double edged sword, other people use it as an excuse not to talk to you, while you may subconsciously use it against someone else as well. It’s just one more way people put up walls.
As for the hair thing, I don’t like it when someone tells me what to look like so I do not feel comfortable doing the same thing back. The only pro quo I have as far as hair goes, is that facial hair and women do not mix. Other than that, whatever.
Body hair is a weird thing. It’s solely based on opinion. Some ladies love a hairy chest on a man while others hate it. In my opinion, I am not attracted to woman who have body or facial hair. Men are attracted to woman because of the fact that they don’t have hair all over the place. Opposites attract. If a man was going to date a woman with facial hair, then why not date a man? Another reason why a man likes a woman who has no facial/body hair is because that’s how the media portrays a “perfect woman.” That is a woman who doesn’t have any unwanted hair and is “beautiful.” I’m sure if entertainment showed us women who have hair in weird places, we’d get used to it and it wouldn’t bother us.
I have no personal preference with how I like it because if I shave it, it is absolutely horrible when it grows out the next day and such a delicate area to shave so often and quick, yet naked coot is so amazing during oral sex. So I guess there are pluses and minuses to it all, and whatever floats your boat floats it. I would personally never get along with someone who EXPECTS me to shave regularly it for sexual purposes and can’t accept me in natural ways.I’d just laugh and leave tbh unless it was a short term thing. I find it insulting if someone was (especially expressively) grossed out if I happened to not get a chance to shave that day. And I’m not up to desensitizing my sensitive parts by frequent waxing either.
On me and on other girls I like the vintage porn look. I’d prefer the hippie hairy armpits look too but its too hot where I live so I shave pits. I’m dating someone who prefers very hairy coot, and its been hard for me to be comfortable letting it get too hairy so I trim it and let the ~aesthetically pleasing~~ top bush go all out. I condition it, its soft and strawberry blonde. It could also be that I’m super petite and I’d feel prepubescent without my lush bush.
On men, I like super hairy chests and beards. If some dude shaves his pits or chest for non-sports reasons, I’d get super SUPER weirded out and back away. Although I’d prefer if dudes trimmed their ball hair if its past two inches length. Dude, that sometimes gets like six inches long and really awkward when I give, um, anyway. You could donate that to locks of love.
I prefer things kept neatly trimmed and groomed. Length is up to you, but keeping it neat is a must for me. As for all the girls, I can say from experience that shaving down there is a really, really bad idea. Your hair is there for a reason. Though, keeping it pretty short for oral is always a plus.
Facial hair on women is just gross. Pluck or wax, please. Waxing your face is not that terrible since it’s such a small area and doesn’t need to be done too often.
Personally, I can’t stand having hair under my pits. On my legs, I don’t really mind so much unless I’m planning on getting laid or wearing a skirt/dress/shorts.
I really actually don’t mind women with hairy legs or pits. I think it’s more natural, and they still look completely beautiful. Same goes for guys. I like certain areas (i.e. face, genitals, and chest) to be groomed, but otherwise, just let it be. I think I would probably run away from a guy that shaved his legs, arms, or pits. No offense to anyone, but it just freaks me out. If you’re a swimmer, I’ll accept it because it makes sense for the sport, but otherwise, just too unnatural to me. Also, I hate when guys go bald down below. When the hair starts growing back after you shave down there, it is the most uncomfortable thing on the planet when you have sex! Trim it as close as you like, just don’t let it become stubble.
