Has anyone here ever heard of a caffeine allergy? I’ve been recently diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder(GAD) and I’ve been doing some Google searches to determine causes of this illness. I knew the usual reasons: worrying too much, too much stress, an inability to relax, etc. But, in my research, I found something I had never thought of, caffeine allergy. Has anyone here experienced or heard of this? I don’t drink alot of caffeine per se, but "alot" is relative. I only drink a few sodas a day, and coffee on occasion. I have noticed that my stress and anxiety level goes much higher after coffee consumption, much more than soda. I don’t know what to make of it. Thoughts?

Thanks for the reply. I don’t think that caffeine is necessarily the cause of my anxiety. My Dad has it so I think I might be genetically predisposed. But, I DO think that caffeine exacerbates my anxiety in a tremendous way, but the shit is hard to quit. What I found in my web searches was stories of people with Bipolar Disorder, schitzophrenia, anxiety, and even depression having symptoms reduced and even no symptoms at all just from quitting caffeine. The articles had their research cited and everything. I wonder if there is any truth to the hype. Apparently, caffeine is a poison that plants use to keep predators away. Kinda scary when I think about it. I never knew this shit.
