If shit like that happens when you are stoned it means you do not need it, you are capable of seeing all you need to without it. I smoked for 10 years. But quit about 3 and a half years ago. I did smoke it once every few months but the gaps became larger. Last time I had a cone was about a month ago. I went to visit my best mate, he smokes like crazy. He asked if I want one, I thought about it and said yes. I told him it had been at least 6 months and as I went to grab the bong he said no. |

My story is pretty much the same as Manimal’s. I used to smoke very often. In the beginning I would have incredible time distortions, visions, ideas, and even a couple of out-of-body experiences. Nowadays it just makes my mind extremely hazy, annoys me, and guarantees the rest of the day will be an extremely lethargic one. |

@West really loved reading your experience, thanks for sharing. It’s so funny you mentioned starting at the sun… I just started sungazing, you should look into it. My very first time smoking I didn’t actually get high. My first high however… I’d consider pretty average. I remember feeling that moment… you know the the “BOOOOOSHKKKK……” where time just suddenly slows down and you feel the rubbery sensation through your body. Laughing my ass off at shit, seeing irony everywhere and pointing it out. Laughing out loud at the thoughts in my head. I remember being in total amazement at how slow time was going. 5min felt like an hour. At some point I remember making the VCR melt in my imagination. In short, it was pretty fun, nothing too out of the ordinary. Nothing like what began happening later… |

My first time smoking pot was leaf. My best mates mums best mates boyfriend (Adam) got it off his mum for his b’day. Now my best mates dad (Rod) smokes but I was shit scared of asking him if I could have one, I didn’t even want him to know. But I had a couple of leafies and we went to my best house. Rod was there and I started shitting myself but Adam told me to relax. We all started playing golf on the Super nintendo. I hit this ball plumb, it hit the flag and I said “Awww, I hit a tree” Rod looked at me and said “You’re stoned aren’t you” |

I just quiet smoking weed this year. I have been smoking weed for maybe 10 years now, and the last couple of years I did it every day, all day. The last few months I have been thinking about quitting and decided what the hell, its time for me to get a different perspective on life than a stoned perspective. 9 days so far and not joints, blunts or rips and I am feeling new. Its really weird, but its an awesome weird. I realized that anything that consume my time that much is bad for me. I have been having the craziest vivid dream although!!! Which i find amazing and kinda of terrifying all at once. |

Fernando you the last line in your post: As long as you can control it, its amazing. If it takes over you, its shit. that’s what I believe. Every excess is unhealthy isn’t it? That is absolute truth. But that also goes well with everything. Moderation is the key to life! |

Great topic. I sometimes experience the same as OP (but on a much different level), although I never let myself carry that far anymore since it is quite risky (it’s alot like a small psychosis). It definitely shows you can co-author your own reality, that the potential to do just that is infinite. But once body and mind lose sync with it’s surroundings, all limits vanish, with possible loneliness, paranoia and anxiety as a result. You can take on any view on reality (just like another shirt) and explore it in depth, which is mind liberating. But it’s good to have the mind on a leash if you wan’t it to come back. I use two things for that: Philosophy (including science) and meditation). When I am in such a state I always embed different thoughts/conceptions in philsophical constructs so it’s easy to see the relative importance of something (experiencing my cat’s as spies, it doesn;t matter how real I experience them, can never carry much weight). Meditation is very helpful so I don’t get distracted by every little thing that bubbles up on the surface of my consciousness (things ask your attention way out of proportion sometimes). It also helps alot to let thoughts go naturally, because it’s so easy to fixate on 1 thing (and if it’s bad, you’ll see everything in that light and thus equally bad). I can comeback to the now, and especially back to my body (it has alot less potential and won;t turn you crazy, it holds everything still together, exactly the opposite of the mind space (sounds, thoughts, sight etc)). This all happened quite recently (couple months back) and it probably has to do with the high dutch potency of the strain I smoked. If I ever want to smoke again I’ll be sure to take low potency Hasj. |

“It fucked me up needless to say, I felt very alone, I felt the exact same emotions as you felt, everyone you know and everyone in the world is literally just you, so you are the only one. it’s a terrible feeling but the only thing that helped was quitting the pot.” I can relate to this. I only smoked weed 4 or 5 times in my life but every time it really messed with my head. The loneliness/futility experienced was excruciating. Apparently, being EVERYTHING is not that cool :D Last time in Amsterdam, the experience was that I was that exact moment, timeless, spaceless. All reality was a postcard and I was that postcard. There is no fixed reference point anywhere to be found and all is relative and subjective. What now? :) |

I smoked habitually many times a day for the matter of about five years…I had too many experiences with acid in a short amount of time, which I started getting anxiety from afterward, and smoking great pot became a thing of the past… I’m glad I don’t have chronic anxiety, nor a desire to waste my motivation with pot anymore. Acid effectively ruined my status quo with daily pot consumption, taught me the real dangers of anxiety, and has been the catalyst for real change in my life, however, I don’t advocate the use of it…It’s fun alright, for awhile, but the risks far out weigh any potential benefit gained. |

@Dom. Sounds like a bad case of ego idealism conflicting with the superego. Anyway, my bullshit aside, I’m in my teens and I am definitely a 1 hit quitter now. I had my first couple of puffs in seventh grade and it was really nice then. It was a very breezy external isolation. But now it’s just a bunch of shitty thoughts hittin my mind and making it weaker. First off they’re all mumbojhmbo and there all very hard to relate to. They seem to hold so much truth when I’m high but as Martijn said when you focus on one thing that’s bad, it effects the rest that you see. Mainly though, I just felt like it was weakening my minds understanding ability to make sense of things, so Martijns right, I’d put my mind on a leash. |

Ever since taking shrooms, weed hasn’t interested me anymore. Shrooms change my perspective on life, whereas weed just makes me hungry and giddy. Seems like a waste of time to me, that I should “get high right, or not at all” haha |

Holy shit bro, intense stuff. I have had my fair share of panic attacks when high off of weed but nothing prophetic or what ever like you’ve had. I have had experiences of some kind of deja vu where I remember dreaming an exact situation that I and others are playing out. I’d say it is just your mind playing tricks on you bro. The feeling of the external is simply a part in the brain where it anticipates things, where fear is located. It is there so that we are prepared for anything in the wild, however, I think it is starting to fade due to being so safe all the time and not having to worry about tigers attacking us. @Manimal/others, I too have heard marijuana could make you schizophrenic, but I would say it simply can bring it out if you were already going to get it. There is no conclusive evidence for this so please do not talk yourself into this. Telling yourself smoking weed could cause you to become schizophrenic could be bad. The mind is powerful, good thoughts AND bad ones. @theskafish, Shrooms are defintely 10x better and more eye-opening than marijuana, but I still enjoy a good toke here and there. I see it as a life enhancer now. Note, ever since taking mushrooms I have had far less panic attacks while high off marijuana and in general. |

Used to smoke everyday in high school. Now I feel left out, as I’m in college and everyone burns pretty constantly, but things have changed for me. Now usually I get all high and awkward, it only serves to further perpetuate my anxieties :/ |

I used to smoke everyday, all day for the last five years haha. But now I will only smoke if I have no worries on my mind otherwise I will start to ruminate on those problems and it will cause me some anxiety. It’s definitely a good reality check it you have a clear mind though, thinking different perspectives and all. Recently I’ve been drinking and smoking cigs alot though, hopefully I’ll quit the latter again soon. |
