crying over spilled milk

Why cry over spilled milk, instead of crying about it we should be finding a way to clean it up.

What do you think?

Cry about it if you must, cry with all your being, but do not linger there. Go with the spill, and quickly move on.

Just clean the milk up, or lick it off from whatever you spilled it on. Whatever. There is NO sense in crying over it.

There is no sense in not crying over it if you feel like crying. There is no sense in going against something that is. It just creates a fight in our minds and we end up dwelling on it rather than crying about it and moving on.

Not saying crying is always warranted, and obviously not for spilled milk literally. Grab a damn rag.

Undue feelings shouldn’t be accepted, but not fought either. They should simply be contradicted by action. There is no sense in letting a corrupt feeling control you.

If you feel like eating a greasy chemburger, should you do it? No. If you feel like wasting a day in front of the tv, should you do it? No. If you feel like smashing an innocent persons skull, should you do it? No. Feelings are just thoughts, and they should never control you.

Don’t cry over it, but don’t move on so quickly that you don’t learn from the mistake. Reflect/learn without judgement, essentially.

If it was really good milk, then yeah, feel sad, but then move on and wipe that shit up because it’s gonna stink if you let it sit there while you bawl your eyes out. Stinky milk is never good.

There is nothing wrong with crying.

What you feel is what you feel. You can’t judge a feeling as right or wrong, it just is. What you do with that feeling could be judged, but when what you feel like doing doesn’t hurt anyone(including yourself) it can’t be wrong.

@Jake Is it wrong to constantly cry because every second you are closer to your death?

@Martijn, No,It is not wrong in itself. Although it might be unhealthy to constantly cry all the time.

This person would either be crying because of a huge fear of death or an intense love of life. Crying itself is just a form of expression, and there is nothing wrong with expressing how you feel.

When you are so filled with emotions that they entirely consume you, you cry to rid yourself of those excess emotions. This is why a lot of people claim to feel better after crying, I myself am one of them.

To go back to what I posted earlier. It was kind of off topic, because I was talking about feelings and crying is not a feeling, it’s an expression.

@ Jake thanks for being a part of this thread–you’ve worded better what I was trying to get at. A feeling is a feeling, no sense in lingering on it but quickly throwing it away without allowing oneself to feel is just as damaging. Crying has received such strong negative connotations, on top of many other forms of expression. Even the outward expression of love between non-family or non-friends is looked at strangely by our society. We are not taught how to love, to express, to FEEL freely and that it is more than okay to do so.
