I am a huge fan of Joe Rogan and his podcasts. He is probably the most vocal spokesperson on the internet when it comes to DMT and other psychedelics. His view on bad trips is that they are almost always beneficial in the end because DMT strips you down bare and reveals the very essence of your existence and if there is something beneath the surface that is bugging you, it just comes out and completely breaks you down. And, bad trips are only beneficial if you know how to break down and decipher your own trip to figure out what the catalyst was that made you have a negative experience. Joe has a paradoxical saying in regards to DMT, he says: “it’s not for everybody, but it’s for you.” So true.

I feel like you need to have a good understanding of the world around you and your own consciousness and reality in order to be in the right state of mind to use DMT. I have not yet tried DMT but i will soon with my best mate once i go back home. I’m just glad i found a community like this one to be able to talk about these kinds of things and share information and experiences in a civilized manner.

So yesterday I did it again for the third time, different DMT (I think it was more pure this time) and in larger proportions. I smoked it also in a ‘more adequate’ way, because the person showing me how to smoke it, did it different this time, and I felt it more intense as well.

Anyway, this time was different again from the first two times. First of all, I was in an environment with two friends now. I shared one big joint with the more experienced friend, and while he started to dance to the music after I was being ‘sucked into the other world’ he looked like some alien kind of creature and his dance moves were like from outer space. I do not understand how he can be so active while being ‘under the influence of DMT’ but he is an experienced drug user, so it probably comes with experience. My other friend was sitting on the couch and while I had my eyes open for the first few moments (in contrary to the first two times two days before) it looked like she was some kind of alien as well. Just like my dancing friend with 8 arms around him, it looked like her legs and arms were all over the couch and all over me.
Furthermore in the first few moments it felt like I had some strange hairs/strings in my mouth and I could not get them out of there. Very very strange, it was not very annoying, but it felt like I was going to choke in the first place and my mouth and lips felt so strange. I really do not understand where this came from and what this would mean.

Anyway, after that I closed my eyes and again I saw my shadow friends. I felt like I was in a different place than the first two times, and I do not know whether it was at the other side of the tunnel or not, but I still feel as if there is more than what I saw. I saw those shapes and shadows and it was like I saw an alien version of my dancing friend (who was at the same time under the influence of DMT as me) as one of the shapes that I saw. It did not look like him, but in some way I knew/felt that it was him.
And those other shapes shadows and the circle of patterns that was spinning were there. I do not know what they wanted to tell me, or what the meaning was or whatever, and I am so curious to find out more about them.

It really is the best possible place to be in, I cannot describe it in another way. I want to know more about this place, I want to see the ins and outs, simply everything.
For me it is a place where nothing matters, where everything simply is, without judgements, without nothing, it just is. I do not know how to say this differently, because I am amazed and stunned by the things I have seen.

After that I have watched the Spirit Molecule for the second time, and I understood better what those people were talking about and what they meant.
I was wondering though how those volunteers in the Spirit Molecule got the DMT. Whether it was injected, or smoked as well. I think they got it injected, because they were talking about higher doses etc. Because they were talking about things that I have not experienced either. They were talking about ‘earth’ consciousness in the trip or something like that, but I feel that every time I trip I am in a different place and nothing from earth matters anymore. I am therefore curious to try ayahuasca, be in a longer trip and find out about certain trauma’s/experiences from your ‘earth’ life which can be processed or viewed in a different way due to the ayahuasca experience.

Anyway, to end this story: it was a great trip again, and I cannot wait for the next time.

Martijn Schirp (112,761)A (@martijn) 6 years, 2 months ago ago

@filip, Bring some when you come to visit ;)!

Ayahuasca is a lot different from what I can gather from your description. Much less intense, more personal, easier to interpret, much longer etc.

About the DMT documentary, just read the book (I have it if you want to borrow it). It is much better.

Filip (2,819)M (@filipek) 6 years, 2 months ago ago

@martijn Schirp, I will try to get something! Cannot promise anything though.

But from what I heard with Ayahuasca is that, although it is less intense, you are more in contact with yourself and therefore you can process certain experiences better?
With DMT I had the feeling that I was in another world, where really nothing counts, only the ‘being’, at least with my eyes closed.

About the book: I have yet 3 books to read. I should make a challenge out of it because I am so bad at reading books.

Martijn Schirp (112,761)A (@martijn) 6 years, 2 months ago ago

@filip, Cool!

Yes, it seems ayahuasca is much more personal, but not in the sense you are completely in another world, because you are, but the other world is in a sense still you (impregnated with angels/demons/mother earth etc).

You are what you experience right now, this includes both sides of the superficial distinction between subject/object or inner/outer. Once you forget this, it can become scary (demons, out there, are going to get me, in here).
So if you experience the other world on DMT, that is you right there. Same goes for ayahuasca. But in the latter, it seems to be there is still some resonance with your own personal history/future.

Anonymous (2,833) (@) 6 years, 2 months ago ago

@filip, in the spirit molecule it was injected.

Do you close your eyes while on DMT? Close your eyes and “go in”. What is manifesting on your vision becomes reality when you close your eyes for a few seconds.

Ayahuasca is probably as intense if not more so than your current experiences (well, depends on how strong it is too). I’ve only taken weak solutions of it, so Martijn is probably more experienced than I.

I still am not sure whether you’ve fully broken through yet or not, since you are often saying “I can’t fully describe” I don’t know if what you can’t describe would be a ‘break-through’ experience, or whether you are just on the edge. I think, since you haven’t said “WOW I FINALLY BROKE THROUGH” you haven’t ? But I’m not sure. I’m guessing it would be very difficult if its just on a joint, but really haven’t done that either so I’m not sure.

But martijn is right. Everything you experience is the here, the now, the you. Do not externalize your fear, realize that everything that happens is you, and your current place in the universe. Thanks Martijn, I’ll probably benefit from that being said by someone.

Filip (2,819)M (@filipek) 6 years, 2 months ago ago

@martijn Schirp, I am really eager to find out about those demons and find out about my greatest fears. Therefore I think ayahuasca is something I should do in the near future.

@ijesuschrist, Yes I close my eyes, only the last experience I had my eyes open for a few moments, but then I prefer to close my eyes and see the things that appear then.

I think you are right, well actually I know you are 100% right that I have not been in a real break through experience yet, because it stil did not feel like that. I do not know what I can do more, maybe I am focussing too much on the experience and therefore I am not being sucked in for the full 100%.

Anonymous (2,833) (@) 6 years, 2 months ago ago

@filip, I think its really just the method your using. If you ever get an oil burner, you’ll notice the difference. You heat it up, the vapors stay there, you keep heating it, until the pipe is completely full of vapors, then you inhale. You repeat at least 1 more time, and then all of reality strips away and you can do nothing but lie on your back, hopefully before you completely travel outwards (don’t want to hit your head!) also if you do attempt this, make sure you place the pipe somewhere safe that it won’t burn anything. . . You have just a few seconds before you get blasted into nothing/everything-ness.

Such an incredible substance.

Filip (2,819)M (@filipek) 6 years, 2 months ago ago

@ijesuschrist, Thanks mate, I will see if I can fix something like that for the next time that I am going to use it. Definitely good tips!

Cody (472) (@versai) 6 years, 2 months ago ago

To break through you need your dose quickly in a hit or two. A joint won’t get you there, sandwich your spice between some weed in a bong. It’s better to vaporize though and for $10 you can go to your local hardware store and pick up the pieces to make your own vape-chamber bong attachment. It’s super simple to screw together and use, and you’ve got a fool-proof way to efficiently smoke the dmt(or anything else).
Check the link for details on the hardware pieces.

Sisyphus (48) (@sisyphus) 6 years, 2 months ago ago

Yeah I have a lot of trouble finding a good way to smoke it in order to break through…

Anonymous (481) (@) 6 years, 1 month ago ago

@versai, Thats becuase you do it every night when you sleep, the DMT afterglow is what causes dreams, if you are woken up during your 45 minuet trip, you’ll still be experiencing the effects, the only problem, there’s no way to tell when you’re tripping.

Anonymous (53) (@) 6 years, 1 month ago ago

@martijn, Can you get DMT easily in Amsterdam?

Anonymous (2,833) (@) 6 years, 1 month ago ago

@thomaschong, This is not absolutely true, nobody really knows if DMT is directly responsible for the dreaming experience, but it is hypothesized. Just don’t preach it as fact, this is how rumors start.

@mybee42, Apparently. Ask him how his trip was :)

Anonymous (2,653) (@) 5 years, 10 months ago ago

I was just listening to this and remembered this thread. It’s quite interesting.

Anonymous (2,653) (@) 5 years, 10 months ago ago

@mercurial, Fucking GOD that’s terrible.

Cody (472) (@versai) 5 years, 10 months ago ago

Erowid has some pretty good categories :)

More experiences posted by hobbyists:

People at the DMT-Nexus even try to make up new words to better wrap our minds around this ‘hyperspace’

The more I learn about it the more questions I have, could endlessly explore this stuff.

Cody (472) (@versai) 5 years, 10 months ago ago

@mercurial, Practicality is the way to go. I would suggest not reading any more experiences then and just doing it! It’s extremely liberating, I think it could be exactly the door you’re looking to open.

Anonymous (2,833) (@) 5 years, 10 months ago ago

Could it reduce suffering in your life and give you more freedom?

This isn’t a mathematical problem – there is no deducing whether DMT should be done or not done. If you feel the need to do it, go for it. If you’d rather not, then don’t. It is a very subjective experience, and as such is very influenced by how you perceive it.

Just go with the flow.

“DMT is what makes you dream at night”
Nobody knows this for a fact.

I’ve done it multiple times. I am getting to the point of refraining from explaining it because it is so indescribable and it brings up so many paradoxes, so many things that are hard to understand, or even imagine.

A factor that is very interesting to me though – is that i makes my anxiety (all anxiety) go away. Instead of feeling a nasty gut-wrench in my stomach I feel more of a warm pain-killer. Its odd.

Would I recommend it? I Don’t know. I do not want to bias the experience. It is the most intense thing you’ll ever do, though – if you do it right. That isn’t biased, that is a fact.

Anonymous (149) (@) 5 years, 9 months ago ago

@kaelyberanek, Just be sure you are spiritually ready and open minded. DO NOT ABUSE IT or any psychedelic. I’ve never tried it but i can’t wait to do DMT. XD

kaelyberanek (15) (@kaelyberanek) 5 years, 9 months ago ago

@ijesuschrist, Thank you for your input! I haven’t tried Any type of phsycadelic, but DMT is one id definitely like to try at some point in my life. Maybe not right now, but in the future, yes! I love hearing other people’s opinions and experiences of this drug.

I dove through the wormhole this afternoon for the first time. This is what I experienced.

I took one huge toke followed by one more smaller one of the plastic tasting smoke. This was about 10 minutes after a failed attempt. I soon felt this all encompassing warming feeling immediately followed by visual distortion. I then closed my eyes.

Intensely detailed structures were “warping” and “flowing” around me everywhere. I couldn’t have gotten scared if I wanted to. There was a very peaceful and loving energy about it. Soon after these patterns started I became aware of a presence. It was a female energy/spirit/form/whatever.

I don’t hear many people reporting about hearing much, but I’m a very musical person and particularly in tune with sound. The female energy was speaking, in English, to me. She kept saying “take my hand, I want to take you further.” Well I didn’t have hands in this space but I submitted to her voice and took her hand with my minds eye.

Every time I would take her hand I would see different patterns and fractals. This continued for a few more minutes and then multiple voices said “Don’t worry, we’ll let you down easy.” They repeated that until I accepted that I would be ok.

I started to feel like I was missing out on something and didn’t go far enough. Then the female energy came back and said “It’s okay, you will be back here again. I want you to feel my love before you go” She opened her arms and took me in with love, embracing me fully, then sent me back to my body very easily like the other voices promised. I felt euphoric and at complete peace as I came down.

It was an immensely positive state of mind. The best part about that is “she” said I will return to that mind space. It would be truly amazing to return to that space.

Describing DMT to someone who has never tried it is like describing a kaleidoscope to a blind man… you cant do it. No matter how well you prepare yourself for the trip, your expectations will be blown away. NOTE: There is a HUGE difference between taking a couple puffs… and having a 15 minute break through where 50mg is inhaled between 4-7 tokes. Having a full breakthrough is like loading a gun with a dream bullet, putting it to your dome, and blowing your head off into elf spice hyperspace. Most of the time your body will initially go limp, and will feel as if you have fainted or “died”… this is normal and where I have seen first timers freak out (such as my first time) all I can say is you have to prepare yourself to let go at this point, do not try to control it. Lights do effect the trip, some people like this I personally wear a sleeping mask.. Audio perception is distorted for the first few minutes as well, I like to put a soothing song on my beats though for the come down. My suggestion would be to do it with someone who has experienced it. Have fun!

Here’s an interesting article discussing Rick Strassman’s research on DMT, particularly regarding entity contact:
