Do you believe in Gerson therapy, and its effects on cancer and disease.
I am mostly writing this to hear the communities ideas on alternative medicine. If you are not aware of Gerson therapy this link might help http://gerson.org/GersonTherapy/gersontherapy.htm , also I would recommend viewing the movie Foodmatters to learn more on the topic. This sort of nutritional treatment seems very practical and logical. That is what makes me wonder, Why is this treatment banded in America, the land of the free?
Sounds very interesting. Alternative medicine in general has its uses and is banded because of capitalism.
Gerson therapy definitely works. My cousin who had brain cancer ditched chemotherapy for the Gerson method and his health was improving drastically. He was given a window of 6 months to live but lived 2 years longer than expected. The tumor in his brain stem finally killed him at the age of 29 but interestingly enough he always said he’d never live to see 30.
Did he do the coffee enemas as well?
I’ve been researching a lot since I’ve become ill and it could potentially be cancer..
however there seems to be potential health risks with the whole coffee enema idea but an account of first hand experience would be great?!?!
Gerson therapy can lead to several significant health problems. Serious illness and death have occurred as a direct result of some portions of the treatment, including severe electrolyte imbalances. Continued use of enemas may weaken the colon’s normal function, causing or worsening constipation and colitis. Other complications have included dehydration, serious infections and severe bleeding.
Alternative medicine is a scam for the most part. Their are some elements of truth of course, but there’s a reason why mainstream medicine is mainstream. In the case of cancer I don’t think chemotherapy is the answer, its more of a business than it is a treatment, but that doesn’t mean the alternative medicine is any better. This Gerson Therapy makes a kind of sense by trying to make the body healthier in order to better function and fight health issues, but it doesn’t seem to have much in the way of research backing it, so I can’t really place much credence to its claims.
@chemicalspike, you seem to be quoting something? do you mind sharing the source?
@chemicalspike, slander and fear mongering
there is no “magic bean” cure. The idea is that you cease all habits that made you ill, and change your lifestyle to one that fosters good health. Why are people getting cancer? because they are constantly exposing themselves to it. The gerson method is stop all of that and attempt to cleanse your body. no more pesticides, antiperspirants, preservatives, antibiotics etc.. It is not mystifying, it is logical.

Pardon my spelling and grammar errors I am late for a meeting, but it can wait due to ChemicalSpike and Vulpes commetns. The Gerson Therapy works I am living proof! I had non Hodgkins Lymphoma along with Crohns disease at the age of 19. This was before you could just get on the internet and look for alternatives so my options were limited. Yo Chemicalspike Vulpes, you are completely wrong and I challenge you to where you got your information. and I mean NOW! For one, diet is the cure for cancer! The body will repair itself if caught in time. The Gerson therapy of course is not good for pregnant or nursing women, what the hell is! Everyone knows that! I took the CHOP chemo, lost my hair, got sick constantly and could not eat anything for months. The thing is The Gerson Therapy is not enough but its a start. When western medicine has failed you where do you turn, the propaganda or try and seek and alternate truth. You must constantly continue to seek out a cure and keep up with it for the rest of your life. I was 19 now 37 and was given 6 months to live at Mayo Clinic. I quit chemo, did Gerson heavily, grew my own food for the most part on a organic farm in northern California and was clear of cancer in 3 months! Doing this with no money and ability to work either. It was tough but western medicines answer was more chemo! WHAT A CROCK!
@jamescarson, yeah he did coffee enemas and i guess they detoxed his system pretty well. he used to say ‘the best part of waking up is coffee in my butt..’ haha. he had no colon issues or anything from it.. but he was doing it to clear the chemicals from chemo from his system. he said that if he had started Gerson before going the chemotherapy route his body would have been able to fight off the tumor better.

It’s banned because it could make a bunch of people lose LLLLOOOOOOTTTTSSSSS of money. I’m talking, of course, about big pharma with their expensive bogus cancer treatments.
I don’t just believe in it, I know it works. I’ve seen it with my own eyes, twice. It works.
Most people have no idea what cancer even is. It’s an epigenetic mutation of sorts, where the epigenome goes corrupt and fucks the body up. It’s brought about by carcinogens and some types of radiation, along with some other factors not all of which are known.
Most bodily dysfunctions, it seems, stem from epigenetic errors caused by improper handling of the body. The epigenome can be manipulated, if it can change one way it can also change the other. All epigenetic disorders are reversible.
Plenty of charity and non profit organisations that aren’t in the pockets of big pharma specifically Cancer Research Uk the biggest cancer charity in the world whose money is in the vast majority, almost entirely funded by the public. Any corporation trying to pull strings would be free to remove partnership with them because they aren’t the major sources but in actual fact business links tend to just be sponsored products in retail and the like.
Should there have been promising results from this then cancer research uk would have been at it like flies to shit but they aren’t because the facts aren’t there, the dangers very much are and well unsurprisingly one simplistic answer to solve a problem that isn’t even one problem but a collection of varied disorders which vary wildly in nature is really the reserve of wishful thinking.
Personal experience is an anecdote not evidence this is why we have trials with blinds and control groups because some lucky people respond for no good reproducible reason, spontaneously enter remission but that might only happen to one in a million.
It is just another form of conspiracy theory. Cancer Research UK is the anomaly in that conspiracy theory though.
Multi multi million pound non big corporation charity with open books under charity law and a true dedication to ending cancer. If it worked they’d be promoting it, instead they are promoting the things that do work and researching things that are making a massive difference. Cancer now to cancer 20 years ago? Mind blowingingly different, hell keyhole surgery alone! So many things to be happy and optimistic about without looking at BS no research cures that has really hurt people.
@cr8ton, I think it is good for short-term use. I agree with someone else who said long term enemas were not healthy.
I went to a holistic doctor once who put me on a two-week cleansing diet. It worked completely. I also know someone diagnosed with cardiac cancer; she went on a particular diet that extended her life.
For healthy people, I think long-term drastic diets are not that beneficial. Everything in moderation.
I think that people should recognise that both conventional and alternative medicines have elements of truth in them however also have the are potential to be exploitive and untrue.
Just because something isn’t peer reviewed does not mean it is a complete falsehood and equally just because a treatment is uninvestigated or unaccepted does not necessarily mean it is a complete falsehood.
Anecdotal evidence is not truth within the scientific criteria however you would be extremely biased not to accept it as suggestive, as long the source can be substantiated.
You would also be extremely biased not to be hugely cautious when something has been around a long time, there are huge amounts non profit experts who have deemed it both dangerous and not useful for the treatment of cancer and have sidelined it as a alternative mumbo jumbo.
I hesitate strongly towards being cautious and extreme skepticism when messing with peoples lives because it is responsible and right to do so, I don’t want to see people fucking up their health because they were eager to believe that they’ve found the next great thing when there are good reasons to suggest it is the opposite.
Good nutrition meditation and medicine are the way forward if you have serious health problems. If people really believe this stuff will work then I hope they will push for it to be investigated but not recommend it to people when it could be responsible for shortening their lives greatly or killing them.
Lets not forget the power of the mind and the placebo effect (both sides of the coin). Seems like an interesting cleansing diet though (minus the coffee enema’s), and apart from the coffee enema’s, could somebody explain me the health risks of this diet, since I cannot think of any. People dying from eating and drinking natural, organic food? Never heard that before.
Placebo effect is hugely important yes. The main detriment I can see to this diet is the low sodium levels and the coffee enemas but the real danger is using this instead of real proven treatments that will help your cancer. The liver injections that WERE killing people have now been removed.
A lot of the ideas behind it rely on ideas that modern understanding of the body refutes or has no real basis. The enemas seem to cause electrolyte imbalances and dehydration presumably as a result of electrolyte imbalances which isn’t going to improve your health at all or your cancer treatment.
One brief summary of the results of Gersons:
In 1947, the NCI reviewed ten cases selected by Dr. Gerson and found his report unconvincing. That same year, a committee appointed by the New York County Medical Society reviewed records of 86 patients, examined ten patients, and found no evidence that the Gerson method had value in treating cancer. An NCI analysis of Dr. Gerson’s book A Cancer Therapy: Results of Fifty Cases concluded in 1959 that most of the cases failed to meet the criteria (such as histologic verification of cancer) for proper evaluation of a cancer case . A recent review of the Gerson treatment rationale concluded: (a) the “poisons” Gerson claimed to be present in processed foods have never been identified, (b) frequent coffee enemas have never been shown to mobilize and remove poisons from the liver and intestines of cancer patients, (c) there is no evidence that any such poisons are related to the onset of cancer, (d) there is no evidence that a “healing” inflammatory reaction exists that can seek out and kill cancer cells .
Between 1980 and 1986 at least 13 patients treated with Gerson therapy were admitted to San Diego area hospitals with Campylobacter fetus sepsis attributable to the liver injections . None of the patients was cancer-free, and one died of his malignancy within a week. Five were comatose due to low serum sodium levels, presumably as a result of the “no sodium” Gerson dietary regimen. As a result, Gerson personnel modified their techniques for handling raw liver products and biologicals. However, the Gerson approach still has considerable potential for harm. Deaths also have been attributed to the coffee enemas administered at the Tijuana clinic.
Charlotte Gerson claims that treatment at the clinic has produced high cure rates for many cancers. In 1986, however, investigators learned that patients were not monitored after they left the facility . Although clinic personnel later said they would follow their patients systematically, there is no published evidence that they have done so. A naturopath who visited the Gerson Clinic in 1983 was able to track 21 patients over a 5-year period (or until death) through annual letters or phone calls. At the 5-year mark, only one was still alive (but not cancer-free); the rest had succumbed to their cancer
Another I found useful reading as I always do, everyone should bear the skeptics dictionary in mind:
Master J is all on board w/ facts, and FACTUAL RESULTS….. Natural plants have micro NUTRIENTS the body does not get, so in realty it is mal nurished, and on top of that is toxified w/ all that horrible artificial man made crap they add in processed foods. Our cells NEED the nutrients that are ONLY FOUND IN PLANT BASED foods frown organicly…. DUDE, you need to stop cutting and pasting and bringing down people who want hope on FACT TO CURE CANCER…. I am also living proof that all cancer & most other chronic conditions can be cured… since I have been on the therapy I have been off med’s and on my way to healthier life – and NO, I have not had ONE Colone problem, and so far I have been doing enemas for almost 4 monhts!
Unfortunately cancer cannot be cured by drinking any amount of pulverised flora or fauna, due to the fact cancer is a very specific disease, which manifests itself as a mutation of the genetic make-up of cells, particularly the P53 gene, which in normal functioning ‘sees’ a mutation when a cell multiplies and initiates apoptosis (cell death). If the P53 gene mutates. cells with any kind of mutation can proliferate, and no amount of wheat grass et al. will stop it.
Your immune system will not start obliterating its own cells, unlike it does for a viral or bacterial infection. Which is essentially what a cancer is.
@themaster, ……. Thank you Master J for defending the TRUTH on the Gerson Therapy. Some people find posting from what THEY claim is facts that western medicine or also known as oxford medicine, that it does not cure or some have died on the gerson therapy. I wont denie that it may be true w/ a few cases – but the reason why the few who did not make it by far have a solid reason why, and it is not because of the treatment……The gerson therapy has been curing since the late 20′s to now, and with few casualties. If the coffee enemas is so bad, when the HUNDREDS of LIVE cases that have been full proof would have been having issues w/ the colon, but again this is NOT THE CASE. So readers, don’t be afraid to read more on this and try it your self. Since on the treatment, I have been off alergy med’s and asthma med, and lopressor for my rapid heart rate condition, and on top of that my stage 2 colon cancer has been under control. The bleeding has stopped, and the pain has stopped. I will for sure go back for testing in the next few months to ensure this of course…..THE BODY NEEDS MICRO NUTRIENTS to rebuild the mutated cells, and to elminate malnurishment that processed foods CAN NOT GIVE YOU, and the body NEEDS to be detoxified to eliminate the TOXICS we have added in western medicines and processed foods, and poisoned meats…..
@piptherational, PHILL>…… NO! it can…. MY mother is living proof of it… how many people have to come up forward to declare their proof of your claim Phill?!! My mother is a cancer survivor from the breast. She declined surgery and chemo, and went the natural way. She removed the toxics from her body through herms and plant base diet, and RAW juicing, and went back after almost 9 months for testing ,and the Dr’s scratched their head and wondered where the heck the tumor in her breast went…. You are WRONG Phill…..I know what cancer is… yes, a mutated cell – actually we are all born w/ cancer cell, they become mutated when we invade our bodys w/ crap from processed foods, and meats and much other harsh in the environment that effect our food…. and we are deprived of nutrition ONLY FOUND IN PLANTS to help rebuild our cells…. !
@disneybaby, Well I stand corrected. Your anecdotal evidence is enough to change my – biologically educated to degree level and empirically oriented, study related, observational- mind.
