Daily usage of mobile phones, wireless technology and other various stuff in our world, can it be a threat to life?Well i don’t know how it works but i have a feeling it effects us.

I want to answer this with a definite, maybe.

I’m going to give a skeptical no – it isn’t going to. Unless you have the phone duct-taped to your head all day, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Why?

Because it is radiowaves. They are so low-energy as to be almost negligible to anything. This very reason is why we use them – they are so low energy, and their wavelength so long they can PASS THROUGH ANYTHING. This is why you get cell phone reception in your house, or even in your basements – nearly nothing absorbs these waves except small pieces of specially designed metal.

Of course – I am skeptical, as there is definitely some interaction, at a very tiny scale. But I do not believe it to be something to worry about constantly – or try to avoid. Wherever you get cell phone reception, you will be getting penetrated by radio waves.

Its electromagnetic waves more energetic than visible light you need to worry about – UV, X-Ray, Gamma. (Microwaves hurt, but they don’t really fuck shit up other than the water in our bodies)

P.S. Let me clear up what the layman may worry about; a wave passing through you does NOT interact with you at all – not in the slightest. When it DOESN’T pass through you that is when it interacts and has the chance to move molecules, break molecules, or energize them.

@zoomboom, Most wireless devices use electromagnet radiation with lower frequencies than visible light, this means the wavelength is to large to resinate with your cells, so no damage is caused. The radiation you have to worry about is ultra violet, x-rays, gamma rays, alpha and beta radiation, all of which have higher frequency EM radiation than visible light. The majority of radiation exposure, is cosmic radiation, and radiation from atomic decay of minerals in Earths crust. Have your home checked, especially if you have granite, because it can have trace amounts of uranium. You also want to be aware of any sources of radon, in your homes. What I worry the most about, are all the toxins we spew into our environment. I think, we have yet to see the health fall out from the chemicals and toxins we come into contact with on a daily bases.

To make one thing clear alpha and beta radiation isn’t electromagnetic radiation.

@imhotep, Small doses of radiation have been proven, in rat studies, to improve longevity.

@ijesuschrist, That doesn’t surprise me considering we’ve evolved to survive being bombarded by radiation, hell even our bones are radioactive. I think radiation exposure possible may be an evolutionary catalyst. Actually Tesla use to expose himself to small doses of x-rays, he described a positive affect on cognition and energy levels, he ended up over doing it though, if I remember correctly.

@imhotep, NEato. Yeah I spose calcium has an isotope that is radioactive if I remember.

Also another point – all things, when given any energy (any temperature above absolute zero) emit radiowaves. AKA You are a walking radiowave transmitter. They are just SO small in energy, that they are barely detectable.

@ijesuschrist, Right infrared.
