hey all, Tine just asked me in his http://www.highexistence.com/discussions/topic/possesion/ thread to make a sort of guide to astral projection detailing with the process of doing so and techniques that help with it.
quick note before I begin: this is a process that requires full submission and dedication, if you aren’t willng to do so, you may end up unsatisfied with the results you get. also keep an "astral journal" so after each session, write down how everything that happened durin these trips inward and outward. it’s a good practice
so here goes.
1.) the 2 most crucial parts of the astral projection eperience is that you allow yourself to enter a deep meditative trance and have the energy o sustain an astral projection, the latter of which can be achieved by the raising of the kundalini, choosing to astral project during a time of the day that you are fully awake, aware and energized. this is the foundation, if one of the two are missing, the chances of a conscious astral projection become rather low.
2.) after you’ve raised your energy and entered the state of relaxation you must take great care in not moving, even the slightest twitch of the finger is enough to make you leave that hypnotic state you’d been working toward entering. I find that internally chanting affirmative mantras e.g. "my focus will be sharper than obsidian" helps you stay grounded in this state, as well as keeping other thoughts at bay, and once you feel you can let your mind be at ease, you can now begin step 3
3.) for your protection in the astral plane, picture yourself sheathed in a radiant, white light that emanates from within, so that any entities interested in your physical body may no access it
4.) you must begin to "feel" your astral body and accept that it is separate from your physical one, though it rests inside of you. at this point, you can begin to remove your astral body, which is done in a few ways
a. you can try to make your astral body float out, which takes practice but is arguably the quickest way to get out
b. there is the "astral rope" trick, where you imagine that a roe hangs over your body, just in (astral) arms reach, you now imagine your astral arms reaching out and grabbing said rope, climbing hand over hand, slowly hauling your astral self out
c. rolling out. as stated you ierally roll out of your body, slowly at first, making sure you are calm and relaxed, which is to be said for all exiting techniques, as the strain you put on yourself to get out can lead to frustrations that will quickly kick you out of your trance.
d. imagine that your astral body is slowly ballooning in size, until it is simply too "big" to be contained by your physical body, at which point you shift in either direction until you are no longer attached, at which point you can shrink your astral body accordingly.
e. the possibilities to exiting your body are only limited to your imagination, so if you fin something else that works for you, that isn’t one of these 4, that’s great and I’d love to hear your methods.
5.) at this point, you want to stay "in your room" and begin looking around, do you see clearly, is eveything foggy and somewhat indistinct to you? if so begin focusing on clearing your astral vision, again slowly, allowing yourself the time so that you stay relaxed. once you feel things have cleared up for you, begin looking at your physical body, as a sort of check that you are completely out, and not hanging on by a pinky, next you should check to see if you have remembered to keep yourself by the white light, if not, do so now, it IS important. that means both your astral and physical bodies
6.) begin exploring this room now for changes, are there things there that weren’t before? are there things missing? are there any entities in there with you? if so, do not interact with them at this point as it is hard to judge intent if you are just starting out.
7.) ifyou have just started astral projection now or recently, this is probably a good place to stop, return to your physical body and reflect on the experience.
a. what worked?
b. what didn’t work?
c. what do you need to work on next time?
d. and most imprtantly, how did you feel?
so you’ve been practicing astral projection pretty consistently now for about 2 months, or about 50 times, you’ve probably hit a few rough patches where something goes wrong or doesn’t go at all.
common "slip ups” include
a. you forgot to protect yourself in a white light and got snapped back into your physical body in response to a disturbance
b. you rushed it…nuff said, you’ll know when this happens
c. you ended up falling asleep and began dreaming instead
d. (which is the proverbial "doozy") you got WAY too overzealous in your belief of your abilities to do so, so you may have skipped steps or half assed them due to impatience
remember, even seasoned astral projectors fall into these mistakes from time to time, but you must follow the process for the good of your experience, as a rule, you should probably expect to to spend ~ an hour doing preparation for the actual astral projection, including, 30 minutes of meditative trance/self hypnosis, 15 minutes to clear your thoughts, and another 15 for gathering your energy from within to power this. and finally that white light of protection
^ that is your day’s serving of fruits and vegetables, don’t skimp on it
so, back to the point, now that you’ve become acquainted with the process of bringing yourself into a deep trance, separating from your physical body, clearing your vision so that you can see well and you’ve probably made the bold step out into the astral world
1.) traveling to other places. you may already be aware of this by this point, but ther are two ways to travel in the astral plane. the slow way, and the fast way, the slow way being just flying there at a seed of your choosing, or instant travel. but the only stipulations of these things is that
a. you go to a place you know, e.g. your school
b. you have permission to go there, so no inappropriate spying or going to restricted areas, the same rules apply in the astral plane .
and not to beat a dead horse, but as you travel, be mindful of your relaxatio, don’t overexert yourself if you don’t have to, this might trigger that "snapback reflex", but going on…
2.) (will add to this later, I’ve outlined the basics above, feel free to ask clarifying questions, which I will try to answer to the best of my knowledge but otherwise there will be more)
I had my first OBE expierence today. I just dipped my foot in the water. My body went calm after the sleep paralysis vibrations and I felt my body shift and my felt like it was floating away. Anyways to my point; what’s the difference between astral projection and an OBE?
@kimetime, it’s to my understanding OBE is just an umbrella term that encompasses many metaphysical phenomena, such as astral projection, which is the action of the OBE itself, some would call it the “freeing of the astral body from the restraints of the physical” or the “exploration of the greater collective unconsciousness through intention” and so on and so forth, so you could say AP is the verb and OBE is the noun
@hlalhabattu, I would love to hear a story of your favorite OBE you’ve had!
Also, I feel like I will get this in the next month. I will make this my primary goal. Going to be hard in College though. Ugh, regret going back.
@vibez, I would highly recommend it! It is a fascinating read and I achieve the vibrational state quite easily now but am still needing to overcome my fear and actually separate. The book recommend trying every day for 30minutes for a month and it guarantees if you follow what it says you will do it. But I haven’t done that yet so yeah lol. I bet I would after a week or two if I tried every day and made it my highest priority. Maybe less, who knows :)

I went online to check it out, and found many many books on Astral Projection with promising titles, resulting with me wanting to buy them all. But then I thought “Wait a minute”!
“One must be the best!”. And then I thought “Yeah and one must be the worse”. And then one question popped into my head: “But which is which???”. So I believe I adequately justified why we should believe a book is good after we see 100% results! :D
Well.. I like this site a lot! I ‘m sure I’ m high!.. Not pretty sure if I exist though.. :P
Another thing I’m sure about is that I’ll give the book a chance, and I’ll be back with some feedback!

I bought Adventures Beyond the Body a few months ago and would recommend it. More importantly, I’d stress the importance of your commitment to OBEs and the book’s techniques. If you think it’s worth a shot, then you’re already halfway there. Results may vary. My experience with OBEs hasn’t been as vivid as some accounts, but I blame that on my lack of effort. On an unrelated note, I’d also recommend Conversations with God.

I’d say (one of) my favorite ones happened last semester , I was on the bus leaving to go home after a really long day of classes, when I thought I try to meditate for at least some of the ride. I fell into a much deeper trance than I was expecting or was prepared for and had a “moving OBE/astral projection or whatever you’d call it” I remember freaking out and then seeing a humongous golden tree, it had a definite glow to it and there were strings of numbers and symbols I couldn’t make out, descending slowly through its branches. this was beautiful and I was suddenly forced “back into my body” just before my bus pulled into my stop. I wracked my brain the rest of that night trying to figure out what that meant, but couldn’t get anything, although I can still picture clearly exactly what it is I saw to the point of being able to paint it

ok dude, heres the thing, I’m a BIG research junkie for astral projection especially while I’m on my medication (adderal) which is for my ADD, but anyways I was wondering how would you know if you’re experiencing an astral projection? what does it feel like? AND MY BIGGEST QUESTION when you enter the astral realm can you see everything as clear as this 3D realm we are all familiar with? is it blury looking? like a vivid dream? can you give me a comparison as to what it may look like because i’m not sure if i have ever astral projected or if i was just visualizing (using my 3rd eye)myself else where other than in my bed focusing on my technique. I would just like to get a better visualization of what astral projection would look and feel like when outside of your body.
these are the steps of my technique that i use whenever i attempt to astral project
1. laydown in the most confertable position
2. visualize and focus on one thing until im fully relaxed and confident
3. I picture myself getting out of bad, walking down the stairs, walking out the door, and taking a good 30 minute stroll down the street because i heard sometimes that you project to where you end up or in the middle of it
4. if it didnt work i go back to step 2 until i feel my body vibrating
5. once i start vibrating i try using the roll out method or i just try to imagine how it feels seperating my spirit from my physical body and try to force myself out which i don’t know how to do lol
please feel free to give me any tips or additional advice which you think might help me out, and please please please answer my questions and kind of explain to me. Im VERY curious if you couldn’t tell lol thanks bro
@hlalhabattu, Awesome thread man. So.. Do you see cars driving around and people walking around or is it just you in a big empty (replica or different?) world? I think that was four questions in one sentence haha.. Anyways, I need to get on your level!
@collinflysoul, first of all, it is good you are exploring but try not being so excited about AP, if that makes any sense, because frantic energy can so very easily be counterproductive if you don’t learn how to channel it accordingly. that said, what you see may be dependent on the person, what I saw was always clear, yet transient, almost like when you just wake up and your eyes are adjusting. the more you focus the clearer it should get. and you’ll know you are experiencing one right away, because there is a very distinct and noticeable feeling of energetic separation, and if you aren’t feeling that, then you may be doing everything wrong.
and as or your technique, I say as a rule of thumb, you shouldn’t try to progress further in an AP session without feeling the vibrations, as this is where the AP actually starts, but again it is tricky and never try to force yourself out of your body, that seldom works an when it does, you are more prone to partial projections, which feel very funky,
i.e. your left arm and right leg are out, but nothing else.
if this happens, don’t see it as a failure, but try and take it as a learning experience. so when you get to the point where you are vibrating and your energy levels are raised, you have to focus intensely on leaving your body and if none of the methods I outlined had worked for you, try experimenting and see what works for you. just be aware of stress, because too much will knock you out of any state you are currently in, and you’ll have to start from the beginning.
also, if this is still difficult, having practice in energy work outside of astral projection will only help you in the long run, so I’d strongly suggest doing so, preferably when you aren’t on Adderal, to feel the full effects of it. also, before your sessions, you might find it helpful to think about your day up until that point, if there was any stress there, release it.
@winslow, I didn’t see people in the physical sense, but as energy forms, keep in mind though that those are subject to change at their discretion, so in theory if you wanted to make your look like an elephant, you could probably do so, also you have 360 degree vision while you are flying through everything. cars may or may not be there because they are unnecessary what you may be thinking of is remote viewing, in which case you would see everything you’d normally see now, but from where you are now. easy to confuse the two
the “world” you seem is very dream-like and is pretty similar to that of a lucid dream in that you can go and do whatever you want there, really but depending on your level of consciousness, things can get fuzzy.
Thanks so much, last night I almost made it all the way through using you’re technique, and it was definetly the strongest vibrational stage i’ve ever experienced! But I couldn’t separate I simply just don’t know how to, do you visualize your spirit coming out if your body? Explain this part for me because I can get to the vibrational stage easily and Im great at visualizing, so I just don’t see what the problem is with me trying to separate from my body. I know it sounds like im very frustrated with it, but that’s not the problem bc I meditate to where I calm down and am able to go through the steps properly again.. could you give me some advice on how to separate? Much appreciated
@collinflysoul, hmmm, are you actively interacting with your energy, because without that, the process gets very difficult and mentally laboring? and keep visualizing, that is crucial to the process
Ok thanks, I just have one last question what do you see right after separation?, do you open your eyes when you think you’re out if body? What escape method would you recommend bc i’ve tried tons with no results of leaving my body.
@collinflysoul, typically, my room is the first thing I see, because that “exists” in the astral plane as well. and your eyes should be closed the whole time, you are seeing everything with the third eye, which can be “Activated” independent of the projection itself, and this may happen with you. as for me, at first visualizing a rope hanging over me just within arm’s reach helped tremendously. you can trick your astral body into climbing out and it is relatively low stress. but as for now, when I actually try (because I’m out of practice these days) I lift it out of my body, don’t worry though, you’ll get there eventually, with enough practice and determination. and remember, even experienced AP practitioners can hit rough spots, so if you are having trouble, work through it and next time may be different. feel free to ask me any more questions or PM me if necessary, I’m always up to help
