hey all, Tine just asked me in his http://www.highexistence.com/discussions/topic/possesion/ thread to make a sort of guide to astral projection detailing with the process of doing so and techniques that help with it.
quick note before I begin: this is a process that requires full submission and dedication, if you aren’t willng to do so, you may end up unsatisfied with the results you get. also keep an "astral journal" so after each session, write down how everything that happened durin these trips inward and outward. it’s a good practice
so here goes.
1.) the 2 most crucial parts of the astral projection eperience is that you allow yourself to enter a deep meditative trance and have the energy o sustain an astral projection, the latter of which can be achieved by the raising of the kundalini, choosing to astral project during a time of the day that you are fully awake, aware and energized. this is the foundation, if one of the two are missing, the chances of a conscious astral projection become rather low.
2.) after you’ve raised your energy and entered the state of relaxation you must take great care in not moving, even the slightest twitch of the finger is enough to make you leave that hypnotic state you’d been working toward entering. I find that internally chanting affirmative mantras e.g. "my focus will be sharper than obsidian" helps you stay grounded in this state, as well as keeping other thoughts at bay, and once you feel you can let your mind be at ease, you can now begin step 3
3.) for your protection in the astral plane, picture yourself sheathed in a radiant, white light that emanates from within, so that any entities interested in your physical body may no access it
4.) you must begin to "feel" your astral body and accept that it is separate from your physical one, though it rests inside of you. at this point, you can begin to remove your astral body, which is done in a few ways
a. you can try to make your astral body float out, which takes practice but is arguably the quickest way to get out
b. there is the "astral rope" trick, where you imagine that a roe hangs over your body, just in (astral) arms reach, you now imagine your astral arms reaching out and grabbing said rope, climbing hand over hand, slowly hauling your astral self out
c. rolling out. as stated you ierally roll out of your body, slowly at first, making sure you are calm and relaxed, which is to be said for all exiting techniques, as the strain you put on yourself to get out can lead to frustrations that will quickly kick you out of your trance.
d. imagine that your astral body is slowly ballooning in size, until it is simply too "big" to be contained by your physical body, at which point you shift in either direction until you are no longer attached, at which point you can shrink your astral body accordingly.
e. the possibilities to exiting your body are only limited to your imagination, so if you fin something else that works for you, that isn’t one of these 4, that’s great and I’d love to hear your methods.
5.) at this point, you want to stay "in your room" and begin looking around, do you see clearly, is eveything foggy and somewhat indistinct to you? if so begin focusing on clearing your astral vision, again slowly, allowing yourself the time so that you stay relaxed. once you feel things have cleared up for you, begin looking at your physical body, as a sort of check that you are completely out, and not hanging on by a pinky, next you should check to see if you have remembered to keep yourself by the white light, if not, do so now, it IS important. that means both your astral and physical bodies
6.) begin exploring this room now for changes, are there things there that weren’t before? are there things missing? are there any entities in there with you? if so, do not interact with them at this point as it is hard to judge intent if you are just starting out.
7.) ifyou have just started astral projection now or recently, this is probably a good place to stop, return to your physical body and reflect on the experience.
a. what worked?
b. what didn’t work?
c. what do you need to work on next time?
d. and most imprtantly, how did you feel?
so you’ve been practicing astral projection pretty consistently now for about 2 months, or about 50 times, you’ve probably hit a few rough patches where something goes wrong or doesn’t go at all.
common "slip ups” include
a. you forgot to protect yourself in a white light and got snapped back into your physical body in response to a disturbance
b. you rushed it…nuff said, you’ll know when this happens
c. you ended up falling asleep and began dreaming instead
d. (which is the proverbial "doozy") you got WAY too overzealous in your belief of your abilities to do so, so you may have skipped steps or half assed them due to impatience
remember, even seasoned astral projectors fall into these mistakes from time to time, but you must follow the process for the good of your experience, as a rule, you should probably expect to to spend ~ an hour doing preparation for the actual astral projection, including, 30 minutes of meditative trance/self hypnosis, 15 minutes to clear your thoughts, and another 15 for gathering your energy from within to power this. and finally that white light of protection
^ that is your day’s serving of fruits and vegetables, don’t skimp on it
so, back to the point, now that you’ve become acquainted with the process of bringing yourself into a deep trance, separating from your physical body, clearing your vision so that you can see well and you’ve probably made the bold step out into the astral world
1.) traveling to other places. you may already be aware of this by this point, but ther are two ways to travel in the astral plane. the slow way, and the fast way, the slow way being just flying there at a seed of your choosing, or instant travel. but the only stipulations of these things is that
a. you go to a place you know, e.g. your school
b. you have permission to go there, so no inappropriate spying or going to restricted areas, the same rules apply in the astral plane .
and not to beat a dead horse, but as you travel, be mindful of your relaxatio, don’t overexert yourself if you don’t have to, this might trigger that "snapback reflex", but going on…
2.) (will add to this later, I’ve outlined the basics above, feel free to ask clarifying questions, which I will try to answer to the best of my knowledge but otherwise there will be more)
Hi! When you say Body Vibrations you mean like little jolts in the nerves?
For example I was loooking at my open hand the other day and I tried to imagine that I bend inwards my index finger. After my imaginative sense became clearer I felt these jolts at my index finger BUT ALSO in some other nerves that were in my palm.
I have felt this also in other parts of my body but the vibrations are very concentrated and funny. I do not feel, like, a state of vibrations. Its just in some parts. Is that what you ‘re talking about? Thanks in advance!
@vibez, you will feel literal vibrations, as if your entire body was buzzing, or if it helps, think of it like when cats purr, that sound doesn’t just vibrate their vocal chords, but their whole bodies as well. also what may happen with you is that you’ll feel what I can only describe as energy geysers coming from your hand, where at first the hands may feel twitchy, then it feels like there is energy springing from your palms. or what’s been happening with me lately is an intense “tickling” in the soles of my feet, same basic concept.
so I guess, what I’m saying is you will start vibrating eventually, usually starting at the base of your spine and spreading throughout your body until the entire thing is moving
I began reading Buhlman’ s Adventures Beyond The Body and I ‘d say the way he presents the joyrnal entries of his is rather hypnotic and are very good to read during the awaking in the night. He reports that he often awakes after 3.30 hours he first began sleeping and then he reads a book about OBEs or focuses his mind on the idea of OBEs through other ways till he gets sleepy again. Then come the vibrations..
I still can’t distinguish the practical difference between Lucid Dreaming and Astral Projection.
But I’ m still in the geginning and I hope he refers to that.
I’m excited to have found this thread. This morning I was finally able to separate from my body for the first time. I’ve been dreaming lucidly for as long as I can remember, and in researching it I discovered the astral projection phenomena. I’ve been on and off attempting it for the past few years, but only recently have I made a serious dedication to success.
I have only been able to reach the vibration state up to this point where my attempts to separate always ended up failing (I got too excited). The last attempt I managed to half way separate, but the tearing sound was so jolting that I panicked. This morning though was so much easier. It still took me a few tries, but now that I knew what to expect I was able to stay calm and roll right out of my body. Let me tell you, standing over the bed and staring down a my own physical body was one of the most incredible experiences.
The first thing i did was a reality check: looking at my digital clock on my bedside table, and then I wandered around the upstairs of my house, listening to the people waking up on the floor beneath me, pondering whether or not I should go down there and snoop around :) Then, I believe I ended up falling off to sleep, because while I stayed lucid and believed myself to still be projecting, there were certain things that were signs that I was dreaming: mainly, I also believed that my significant other and my best friend were ALSO projecting with me and we were exploring to this ridiculous future diesel/steam punk alien world together.
And yet, perhaps I was unintentionally still projecting as I encountered a being who seemed very much interested in me but set off a bunch of red flags. I’ve become very adept at lucid dreaming to the point where I’ve come to enjoy my nightmares as much as my flying dreams but this guy gave me legitimate creepy crawlies. He was very interested in who I was / where I came from, and having been warned of creatures like him I had a persona and story at the ready (a super awesome inter-dimensional dream pilot, fuck yeah). I remember looking into his eyes and seeing the sentience- he was definitely NOT a dream apparition. Pretty amazing, really.
Anyways, a bizarre side-note: I kept brushing my hair out of my left eye the entire trip and when I awoke I realized I’d passed out on my side with half my face smushed into another pillow, thus blocking out the vision of my left eye. Not sure if this were coincidence or what… Also, the creepy guy had AWFUL breath.
@virage, congrats man, that’s what I like to hear. definitely keep it up, there’s more in/out there to experience and discover, perhaps even rediscover. I’d love to hear more about this experience for you.
I had my first astral projection experience last night. It was pretty amazing even though it didnt last very long. The bright light and the humming sound were so overwhelming. I felt like there was a gigantic big screen tv right over my head playing multiple tv channels at once. Like that sound when a room full of people are all talking at the same time.
I was so overwhelmed & amazed that I guess I got snapped back into my body. I remember thinking “I finally did it!” haha. The only bad part was that once I got snapped back into my body, I went into a brief state on sleep paralysis. I was back in my bed but couldnt move at all or felt like I was moving in extremely slow motion. Once I realized I was in sleep paralysis, I heard this loud snarl sound & seen this dog like creature above me. It didnt frighten me one bit because I have read numerous accounts of people seeing scary things during sleep paralysis. So I knew this was normal. I just willed myself to close my eyes and fully wake up.
Not gonna lie this scares the shit out of me. Perhaps when I am ready. For Fear is the mind killer.

@aestheticbrah, nothing to really fear man.view everything as it is and you may find that what you were initially afraid of is something you’ve manifested and if so, know that you are infinitely more powerful than it
I dont know if this is related to my astral projection experience & might be off topic, but since I projected a couple days ago, I have been randomly seeing these flashes, kind of like someone taking a picture of me. Every time I see them, my first thought is that its lightning but its not. Its like a purplish, blueish, white bright light. Ill see it for maybe half a second and then its gone. Anyone know what this is?
@krkrich, Dude I had the exact same thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago. It only happened maybe 5/6 times over the course of a few days after an astral experience. It’s only for a split second and all I can see is white light.
I have no idea what it could be though, just that it happened to me too :)
@siantastic, haha. At first I got paranoid because I thought someone was taking pictures of me but I would see the flash in the most random places & times of day so I ruled that out.
But I was doing some searching online & one of the things people are saying the flash is is a spirit letting their presence be known to you which is kind of cool & creepy to me lol. But I don’t know for sure.
@hlalhabattu, My current problem is I will be completely relaxed after doing 30 minutes of kundalini meditation, then I will feel the vibrations and feel myself rising out of my body or think I am but instead I find that I am just raising my own physical body of instead, so I will relax again and feel again myself rising only to find its my physical body rising yet again. I try visualizing the rope and the rolling however I nothing happens or again I feel my actual muscles reacting instead of the astral. What should I do?
@aizen, hmm, that is quite a problem, I’d suggest you go at the process of separating slower, once your vibratory levels raise, stay relaxed. I think that the major problem is, you may be stressing too much to separate, and the resulting tension can be causing your brain to in turn tell your muscles to moves instead of your energy body.
1. keep calm and be aware of stress levels
2. be slow about it
3. also, make sure you have completely self-hypnotized before progressing to energetic separation

So ever since my first astral projection, I haven’t been able to do it again. I tried today and I think I was just stuck in a sleep paralysis state. I would try to separate my astral body but couldn’t. Like when I would try to lift up my astral hand, it would feel like it lifted up but I wouldn’t see my hand there in that spot where it felt like it was (If that makes any sense). I tried that rolling method and I felt like I had rolled out of my body but I don’t think I really did. It was like I was trying to convince myself that I was astral projecting when I really wasn’t. lol
But the strangest part of the whole experience was that while I was in that sleep paralysis state, I distinctly remember looking over at my door & seeing that it was open. It was the middle of the day and bright outside but I couldnt see anything past the opening of the doorway. Like it lead to nothingness. That was really weird because I always close my door when I meditate or try to astral project. When I finally gave up and got out of my bed, the door was closed. Weird.
Does anyone have any advice on how to ignore all those loud voices right before you separate? Its like right at the end of that vibration stage, when I feel myself separating, I always start to hear all these loud voices, like from a tv. Its like putting on headphones and hearing a different song, or a couple different songs in each ear at the same time.if that makes sense. It always distracts me because its so much chatter all at once and I can never hear what is being said because I’m hearing multiple things in both ears. Is this like my ego’s last defense in stopping me from astral projecting? lol
@krkrich, just surrender to it, man. when they come, treat it like a string of nonsensical thoughts when you are meditating, acknowledge it and move along. which is of course easier said than done, but keep trying to stay focused through it and soon enough you’ll get there

Do you have any idea what exactly those voices are? And why do mine always sound like news reporters? lol.
@krkrich, no problem, it’s all about sharing knowledge learned. as for those voices, they could be entirely psychosomatic chattering for all I know, or a last ditch effort at a sort of self-preservation,etc there may or may not be rhyme or reason to them at all, so I’d just look at it for what it is, an unknown distraction and keep moving forward (comfortably) because remember, too much strain will knock you back to square one.
as for why it sounds like news reporters ….maybe you’ve come to associate mindless chattering with news broadcasts?
