What is it with us humans that we want/need to put some people on a pedestal and then want them to tell us what to do/want etc.? be it Jesus, Buddha, Madonna, the pope, Brad Pitt, the priest from the local church, my president, my favorite hindu guru, my favorite bodybuilder, manimal etc. Of course Manimal rocked and I learned a lot from him but let’s not get attached to the messenger. We should absorb and process the information we receive from all fronts and be our own master. 2 thousand years of finding and worshipping idols should end.

Funny, I’m gonna share why many people joined HE, really. Because of what Manimal posted. :)
A tribute.

“Truth can be found by a process of eliminating wrong thoughts, which are thoughts of limitation. When all thoughts of limitation are eliminated, what remains is our natural, unlimited, Self.”

-Lester Levenson

“To believe in the things you can see and touch is no belief at all; but to believe in the unseen is a triumph and a blessing.” -Abraham Lincoln

“Envy is ignorance” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Every human being’s essential nature is perfect and faultless, but after years of immersion in the world, we easily forget our roots and take on a counterfeit nature.” -Lao Tzu

“A warrior does not give up what he loves, he finds the love in what he does.” -Dan Millman

“Moderation? It’s mediocrity, fear, and confusion in disguise. It’s the devil’s dilemma. It’s neither doing nor not doing. It’s the wobbling compromise that makes no one happy. Moderation is for the bland, the apologetic, for the fence-sitters of the world afraid to take a stand. It’s for those afraid to laugh or cry, for those afraid to live or die. Moderation… is lukewarm tea, the devil’s own brew.” -Dan Millman.

“Once you realize how effortless the highest way of life is, it takes tremendous effort to assume the opposite.” -Lester Levenson

“The vast majority of people’s concept of love is actually

hate, more or less. “I need you, I must have you, I can’t live

without you, you’re mine,” is all non-love.” – Lester Levenson

ENJOY!

I don’t think that’s depressive at all. Why do you think you need other people to be happy? Do you absorb happiness from others? If so, don’t you think that’s very selfish? And do you not have a life of your own, with your own goals and directives? Then you can carry on in a world without other people without being depressed.

I always feel lonely, and I never feel lonely. In one way, we are always alone no matter what happens, we’re separate beings living for ourselves. In another way we’re never alone because we’re all just part of this big something. Nothing makes me feel better, because loneliness brings me no feelings and distractions (things you do to make you “feel better”) don’t affect me either. My mood is mine, I’m in charge of it.

How to heal a broken heart?

Just realize that it’s your ego, not your heart, that has been broken. And realize also that this is a good thing, not a bad thing.

Your heart is just a muscle, it doesn’t get broken by that stuff.

What do men want?

1. Someone to protect, to be a rock for her.

2. Femininity, “right-brainedness,” emotion, someone is full of life and love and stuff. Masculine + feminine = complete.

3. Pussy

What do women want?

1. A grounding point. Someone who remains calm and logical when she’s worked up, sad or scattered all over the place. Women have more stronger feelings and are more easily distracted.

2. Masculinity, focus, strength. Someone who can focus and lead, who isn’t as easily swayed by feelings and desires.

3. Cock

@blankey, Manimal was one very intelligent man. Learned a lot from him even though I didn’t agree with some of his stuff when I first met him. Grows on you I guess.

I’m sure he would appreciate how people were affected by him. Isn’t that all of our goals in a way? Telling other people what you believe is one of the best ways to figure out where we stand on a certain subject and why. We always need someone to challenge our beliefs. It makes them stronger.

I really do miss Manimal. He was controversial, but I liked that he was never afraid to share what he truly felt.

But I also agree with @Ka. Now that he’s gone, we can’t put him up on a pedestal. He said himself he was developing a “teacher ego.” Manimal had some really great wisdom to share, but there over 10,000 of us with our experiences and wisdom to contribute. He neither made nor broke High Existence. He’s kind of a great example of the impermanence of everything, regardless of whether or not you liked him. He came, shared something, and left. And the community carries on.

I too thought he was cool. I didn’t agree with him on everything, but a lot of his ideas made sense and made me feel like the stuff I wanted was in fact within my reach, instead of just being born out of luck. @beyond, your “best of Manimal” is spot-on!

I thought he was a pretty cool guy who could be a dick. Some of the stuff he said was like “wow…. That’s genius!” and some of the stuff was “Seriously dude? Did you just say that?”

I’m glad he’s still here (sorry Martijn), I liked reading what he had to say.

” you are not your situation, you are not your ego, you are not your beliefs. You are just you, awareness, everything else is stuff that you’ve collected. You can reshape it, discard it, add new things to it, as long as you’re aware of it and take responsibility. It’s your canvas, and you’ve realized that the stuff you’ve put there isn’t what you want, which is great progress. Now it’s just a matter of remaking it to your liking.” ~Manimal

@kaciula, Exactly ;)
@nikola, LOL

He had a lot of great things to say, that were very helpful to a lot of people. At the same time, IMO, he was out of line and blatantly mean to people too. He justified it in this way or that. But, I don’t see that as being helpful. Maybe in one way or another it “could” be helpful in the long-run for some….but for those who couldn’t get what they ‘needed’ out of what he was saying… I think his affect on them would’ve been detrimental if anything. Is that “their” problem?… maybe… but regardless.. a negative affect is a negative affect. He grew on me too.. but I always disliked when he was a dick to people.
This is kind of cracking me up, like he died or something :) Hi Emil!!! Wherever/whoever you are now! :)
