So yeah, I feel as if I’m at a critical point in my life. I’m in a situation where I know I don’t want to be in, but there are some major roadblocks along the way.
I really really believe in the whole manifestation thing that consists of whipping out God powers in order to manifest desires. But, something is preventing me from doing this… I feel as if I know what I DON’T want, but I’m unsure as to what I DO want..
Also, I’m also having issues with this method of living versus the Taoist way of living. In the summer, I read/listened to a lot of Alan Watts, Krishnamurti, and Eckhart Tolle … which really helped me to let go of resistance and my desires. It was great! It was liberating! Even though my summer was pretty lonely… I felt free and at peace. I was more certain and balanced.
I guess I would like some feedback on this question: is it better to live life just letting things be and “going with the flow” or to visualize and manifest your perfect life?
Well, some people think that their destiny is already written. In that case, just letting things be looks fine. But if you think that you are the master of your life and it’s up to You and ONLY you to shape your life, then just letting things be doesn’t sound like a good idea. Unless you’re pursuing a boring life.
Going with the flow is also a whole different case. If the flow is good, you should go with it, if it’s not, then you probably shouldn’t bother. But then again, even bad flows can teach you something. So I’d suggest you to be daredevil and spontaneous. If you’re not, all you can be left with, is regret(I’m way too familiar with that feeling unfortunately). If you are daredevil, you are most likely to experience some kick-ass things..! And well, in some rare cases, some less kick-ass experiences from which you can nevertheless gain something.
And visualizing and manifesting never hearts really. Just don’t forget to make some of your of efforts towards achieving a life worth living :-)
@montelimart63, Don’t try to manifest your perfect life, you should try and develop your own views, not just try to agree with everything Alan Watts or Krishnamurti tells you. If you try to live and breathe Alan Watts, you won’t become Alan Watts, you need to find a personality. I’m going to imagine you’re about college age, this is one of the most important times in your lives, becuase this is the time when your opinions about things stop becoming a mishy mushy ball of other peoples opinions, and start developing your own unique ones. You’re going to have desires, becuase, it’s sort of impossible not to. Even not having desires is a desire. The best thing you can do with your life is to live it. Trying to attain a higher level conscience is a goal maybe a dozen humans have ever done. You’re not special, neither am I, no body is. We’re all essentially the same, so don’t worry to much with live, conscience, and states of being, when it comes down to it, your a human on a pretty huge planet with 80 years to explore it. In the end, you’re still going to be dead if you were a giant asshole or the next Ghandi. I guess what I’m saying is: Pursue happiness, if being a good person fills you with joy, be the best damn person you can be. If being an amazingly terrible person makes you happy, there’s really nothing I can do to stop you. If you want to eliminate desires from your live, and reach a mental level that I or pretty much anyone I know could ever dream of, go ahead. But first ask yourself the reason behind doing it, are you trying to fill a hole, or pursue something else, never jump into anything without seriously seeing it from as many perspectives as you possibly can. So experience the world, be happy, I’m not trying to tell you how to live, just make sure it will make you happy, man. There’s no point in slaving away at something that won’t benefit you or anyone else. Live life, man.
The outlook I have is: Ideally, people would focus on their strengths, success is not about making waves in your area, or going un-noticed, success is about doing the best you can at what you are good at. Whatever it is that you are good at does not have to be important in the grand scheme of things, it just has to be what you are passionate about.
My sister tells me that I focus too much on things I cannot change, but that is the point, it is not about changing these things it is about me doing the best I can at what I am good at, what I have passion for.
It’s a good question, i’m finding myself in your situation.
Sometimes, i’m in the mood to follow the flow, just let it be, everything is already planned, thing will come at time.
But at others times, when i’m boring and want things to come faster, i do visualization things.
Also about the destiny, maybe the destiny planned that we will do visualization to get things faster? x)
When i was little, i was debating with myself:
“- i will commit suicide to prove that destiny doesn’t exist.
– No, because destiny has already planned that you will commit suicide to cheat on him. x) ”
So about following the flow or visualization, if destiny exists, this one already planned hat you will let things go or when you will do visualization…
Well, we can debate during a long time on that without getting the answer. XD
both, reality is chaos and unpredictable, therefore to be like a river that twists and turns, but still flows, is essential,
but the flow of your river is dictated by what you decide to do, and to ( do ) you need an idea, and the best ideas are groups of them under one name, as the singular focus allows for several aspects to considered in tangent, this singular idea becomes a focused destiny, the more clear your destiny (the more you focus on it), the more control you have to navigate reality to achieve it
You know what you don’t want, that’s a great start. And really, that’s as far as you’ll get without taking action. You can only see one step ahead, you MUST FIRST TAKE THAT STEP before you can see the next one.
What do I mean? Well there’s that old saying, you can’t fill a cup that’s already full.
Get rid of the stuff that you don’t want, this will make room for what you want, and so you will start realizing what it is you really want. Because your mind will disregard that which your ego considers there’s no room for, so if the room is filled up by something you will not keep your eyes open for what you really want to fill the room with.
Just like eating crappy “food” that’s devoid of nutrients will still your hunger, removing the signals that your body needs nutrition. You can’t eat a healthy meal if your belly is already full of junk.
Same thing applies to your mind, and your entire life situation. You can’t fit the good stuff in if its place is taken by the junk that you don’t want.
So just start surgically removing the negative contents and dead weight from your life.
When you become more empty, you will want more to fill the void. When you remove more negative influences, your desires will be less tainted by these negative influences, they will be more pure.
People are taking it all way to far when they talk about killing your desires. Life IS desire, desires are great. Everyone has desires.
YOU CANNOT RID YOURSELF OF ALL DESIRES, YOU CAN ONLY FOOL YOURSELF THAT YOU HAVE DONE SO.
And, yknow, self-deception and delusion is not really a good thing.
It’s ok to have desires, you’re a human being for crying out loud.
But there are “good” desires and “bad” desires.
It’s all about getting rid of the desires that are not aligned with who you really are (aka your higher self.)
Just take this step, AND THE NEXT STEP WILL REVEAL ITSELF TO YOU.
You can never see more than one step ahead, you can guess and assume, you can trust and believe, but YOU CANNOT KNOW.
There is only one way to see further in the mist, and that is to KEEP WALKING FORWARD.
The path may seem blurry at times, but keep walking and it will soon be clear again. If you don’t keep walking forward, you’ll be walking backward and/or in circles, and getting lost and miserable.
There is only one way up and out… and that is forward through it all.
Good luck. Peace and love
