@citygirl9050, How it goes:
Bad feelings, and bad thoughts prevail. Good memories, thoughts, emotions tend to fade away, and in the end – the negativity takes over, and after -it’s hard to erase it.
So every next association of that person will bring negative intuitive feeling, something in the stomach that implies avoidance (of that person).
