How often should psychedelics be used?

2 years, 8 months ago

I love mushrooms, I have eaten them 4 times now and every experience I come out on top. I will be using them again in the future and I am interested to find out if any of yall have any suggestions/advice on how often is too much. Twice a month, once a month, once a week, a few times a year?

Just interested for some insight

everyone is different. Find your right balance where you are able to take care of your body and soul, as well as take care of your life responsibilities(work, family, friends, gf/bf) and after you have taken care of these things, trip out as many times as you like. Never lose the balance, and if you feel that you are letting down people or not taking care of your life duties, trip less. There is no right or wrong answer, its all about what feels right to you, my man.

There isn’t necessarily a specific time range/limit in which you should be taking psychedelics. It really depends on your mindset and where you can do them. Also, if you’re worried about tolerance, metabolism plays a big role in that. I would say definately no more than once a week because you need time to reflect on the experience. Its really up to you and how you feel about using them. Myself, I wouldn’t go more than twice a month but that’s because I have other ways to connect spiritually. Good luck with your future experiences and wish you the best of luck finding your equilibrium.

As long as you enjoy it and/or improve from it, there is no limit.

Watch your ego though, I know many people (like myself) begin to think that everything they think / say is absolute truth because they’ve “seen” it on psychedelics.

Psychedelics are a very powerful tool to unlocking the mind and seeing things in a different light right? When doing it just to do it is what you become then I think you’ve started to lose some of the true insight you can gain from them. For instance when people Eat just to eat , because they have felt nourishment before. They end up becoming obese and it becomes an obsession . You know what I mean? You begin to forget that food is for nourishment and not for pleasure. And no I’m not saying food isn’t pleasurable and shouldn’t be pleasurable because food is suppose to be that way. It’s only when you forget that the pleasure should come from the nourishment your body needs not the pleasure you want. So it’s honestly up to you. I mean you’re the only one who can tell yourself what your really gaining or losing from it. For some people once is enough … They become enlighten and grasp an understanding for certain things they couldn’t access before. For some it takes more. Just dont lose yourself in the constant battle of want and need. Because your always gonna want more but sometimes you pass the need by and go for the want and totally blow by the intentions you once had. At least thats the way I feel.

Contrary what a lot of people say, you CAN get addicted to psychedelics. The risk is very low compared to other drugs but a friend of mine was hooked (and constantly) on acid for months. Someone up there already mentioned it but you need time to digest and reflect on the things you learned. Otherwise it becomes a necessary catalyst, rather than insight borrowed. I’ve experienced this with MDMA… It turned into an “every weekend” thing and the magic faded. I’m sure this would happen with any drug done often enough. I’d personally advise no more than a few times a year.

My sentiment is that the way most people use them is an “overdose” although there is really no such thing with mushrooms. What I do mean is that the heavy trip experience most people have is so strong that the body is shocked by it and over-compensates by developing a temporary “tolerance” to it.

I feel that mushrooms are something that can be done weekly and that we will find ourselves relishing the experiences and anticipating it weekly as long as an “overdose” trip level is not forced. Those experiences are invaluable to us, and are profound instruments of reality re-calibration that are under-utilized, but ought be reserved for occasions where the experiences possible at those doses are the experiences being sought.

The vibe of the mushrooms themselves at any dose is highly aesthetic and conscious and makes for meditation aide that will totally change your experiences while meditating, teaching you more than you thought sitting still could, and improving your personal meditations going forth & inspiring you to be meditative more often.

I feel that 1-2g of mushrooms a week in this intent is extremely wholesome for the human mind and spirit and ought not be considered with the class of “drugs”, not even recreational drugs.

However, they are the most vibrant, wholesome, and lucid of the recreational drugs while being very easy to have stable comfortable doses…. All the while never losing the potential to show you within your mind’s eye other ways and realms of Being, if you please to view, and show it by imbibing more…

If you use them in such recreational fashion, once every two weeks or less is what I suggest. You’ll find yourself not wanting them even that often after a bit.
I feel that the entheogenic use of them should be sparsely, just two or three times over the course of a year, if even that much.

I would say twice a year. That makes it a special and the 6 month lay-off is a good period to evaluate the trip

My real answer is just once. but we all know thats probably not going to happen.

I’d say the most useful way to use psychedelics in a constructive manner is wait till you’re 18, 19, 20. Take a “heroic dose” of shrooms, and then never again.

@ijesuschrist, what is a “heroic dose?”

@lytning91, I think its Joe Rogan… or that other stand up comedian – and I think he defines it as 8 grams of dried.

@tangledupinplaid21, you’re right. The comedian referenced McKenna, who I referenced. A DOUBLE REFERENCE! All the way across the board. Its so beautiful.

In the words of the infinitely wise Terence McKenna – very, very infrequently, and at high doses!

I do shrooms once a year.. no more no less.

First time, do 2g or so. Second time do an eighth. Third time do a little more than an eighth and repeat that same amount for the rest of your trips if you find it to be comfortable.

I try to space mine out a good few months but if you really want to do it again, I would say wait three weeks minimum .

Geez shrooms, so much to say about this topic… lets just say i merged with the consciousness of the shroom 2-3 times and i also channeled Source Balance – It’s weird having unlimited universal knowledge of all time and space… Had to stop that one quickly before i got out of hand.. – Merged my mind with 6 other people and we telepathically communicated for about an hour –

got shot and revived –

pulled my own left rib out and this girl entered my body and gave herself birth through my body… ( im a guy…? ) she also healed me up from the rib incident..

lets see what else… i become a wolf and a dragon for about 30mins-1 hour… i also can do any sport or anything perfectly without any mistake – i can dance incredibly well…

i merged my mind with a girl for a while – that was weird.. felt like we where siamese twins from the head but in astral…

Oh yeah the universe we live in is a Game…a very very very complex and interesting game ;)

there are 5 universes.

The moon IS hollow and there is a base on it.

Numerous times my entire body was re-forged.?.. Feels good.. :P

i do 5g of dried shrooms…

the shroom itself just provides a huge DMT boost.. but not JUST that.. there’s more to it and if i went into detail i would prolly have to write 2-3 pages on the real origin of the psylocibin cubensis and the attributes it holds.

@youarewhatyoueat, It’s entirely up to you how often you do psychedelics, but just for your information, a reliable source told me that tolerance builds quickly, meaning it will require more psychedelics, and therefore more money, to achieve the same state. My source recommends that after taking a substance such as shrooms or acid, wait at least 8 days before dosing again to have your tolerance reduce to normal.
