I want participants for an Astral Projection Expt.
Edit: An updated blog post with everything you need to know. Do not read the “Why” if you plan to participate, it will spoil it.
1) Being comfortable with being very high on mary jane is used, so if that isn’t an option, you must be willing to deprive yourself of sleep to a point of being very tired (maybe 3-4 hours post bedtime).
2) You need to, at some level, enjoy electronic music, with a strong bass. This there is little exception and if this is altered its no longer my experiment, but would still be interesting.
What you’re going to do:
•Smoke a great deal of weed to a point you consider to be very high.
It MUST be these two albums. It is better if you haven’t heard them EVER before.
When you are comfortable and relaxed, turn on the music, shut your eyes, and zone out to only the music.
Turn it to a comfortable level, not too loud, but so you can hear every beat and sound easily. As the song progresses, slowly increase the volume! The music should reach a point where it is the only possible thing to focus on – not painfully loud, but loud beyond anything else.
My hypothesis; You WILL astral project. You will find yourself in space, or some void where your body is stretching and contorting and dancing with incredibleness.
Notes: I want these albums first because I need to understand something of these.
If anyone is up for this challenge, please post here. I need participants!
I’ve done it a hundred times and its an absolutely fantastic unbelievable experience for me.
Yeah I’m down as soon as I can find the time and MJ! What would be even better is doing this in a sensory deprivation tank, with or without music.
@frustratedpanda, Sensory deprivation tanks are crazy!
@ijesuschrist, Was your thought that a bunch of people will do it at the same time & try to see each other? Are you just testing to see if people astral project or not? (and I’d probably be down that sounds fun)
Wouldn’t you fall asleep?
@ijesuschrist, I’m interested in trying this experiment
@ijesuschrist, I definitely want to do this. Is there anyway you could send me the albums?
@frustratedpanda, a deprivation tank + music is my dream… I’ve always wanted to do it. Without would be just as interesting, but different.
@emily, That wasn’t my intention, if you;d all like to try it go for it. My true intentions I will wait to share till I get some results.
@zhaetur, Fall asleep while high listening to some very intense trance? I doubt it.
@beardlike, Please do!! Report back your experiences.
@totempole, I don’t know how to share music in a non-complicated way… if you have any idea, you can msg me, or just get a torrent and look them up (OR, for the sake of infected mushroom’s glory – buy them, they are well worth it.)
Guys please, if you;’ve never listened to them before, don’t do it before you do the experiment. The best results are when you do not expect the song’s progression. You can skim through a few to get a feel for whats going to be heard, but don’t ruin it for yourself
@ijesuschrist, Lucky for me, Im pretty baked right now… And on my way to bed. Im gunna download the songs and do the experiment tonight! Ill let you know how it goes!
@yerhiighness, most awesome!
I am more than down. I wish I could make a living doing this. My favorite passtime. I’ll pick up and down load this week.
@ijesuschrist, I reckon infected mushroom would be good while being on a mushroom trip as well. I know the albums, have listened to them (actually two days ago I have been playing them while mixing in a local bar), but will still try it once I get back home. It for sure is good spacing music.
@filipek, then you don’t get to participate :)
I don’t have any other albums I know of that I would be curious to test this on… I have a few songs, but there is nothing as progressive in my library as infected mushroom.
@ijesuschrist, deadmau5? I think I do not have anything similar to infected mushroom either, but what about techno? Or minimal? Not spacy enough I guess?
@ijesuschrist, I currently really fighting the urge to check them out right now for the sake of the experiment.
@filipek, deamau5 is alright…
If you want, you could download these songs, they are progressive enough:
@totempole, this song is not on either of the two albums I posted;
@ijesuschrist, I love getting shpongled!
i loooove infected mushroom. too bad i cant do this
I will participate in this most likely this Saturday.
@ijesuschrist, So do you actually astral project when you do this? Like the whole, body goes numb, vibrates, then you rip from your body? Or do you just start seeing things because of the music and the high and then it just intensifies until it is almost dream-like?
@ijesuschrist, Well that counts me out, I listened the shit out of those albums. Incredible music.
@blankey, for me, in the strictest sense, no.
I forget I’m in my body – and I get stretched and contorted to various ends of the galaxy. My body is humming to the music. At time’s I’ve kind of snapped out of it and realized I’m like horizontally jumping in my bed. It gets pretty nuts, you have to be pretty god damn high though to get there, or pretty tired, or both.
Any more and I will give away some things.
@ijesuschrist, Yeah I know what you mean, I’ve done that before a few times. Definitely not Astral Projection though. Looks like you are just surfing around your mind/consciousness.
@blankey, “Definitely not astral projection”
I wouldn’t be so quick to judge it’s limitations. I’ve been pretty far out there.
