Edit: An updated blog post with everything you need to know. Do not read the “Why” if you plan to participate, it will spoil it.
1) Being comfortable with being very high on mary jane is used, so if that isn’t an option, you must be willing to deprive yourself of sleep to a point of being very tired (maybe 3-4 hours post bedtime).
2) You need to, at some level, enjoy electronic music, with a strong bass. This there is little exception and if this is altered its no longer my experiment, but would still be interesting.
What you’re going to do:
•Smoke a great deal of weed to a point you consider to be very high.
•Get relaxed in bed, shut off all the lights, preferably at night so there is little light.
•Have an MP3 player handy with some quality headphones.
•Play songs in shuffle from these two albums:
Infected mushroom – Converting Vegetarians
Infected mushroom – Viscious Delicious
It MUST be these two albums. It is better if you haven’t heard them EVER before.
When you are comfortable and relaxed, turn on the music, shut your eyes, and zone out to only the music.
Turn it to a comfortable level, not too loud, but so you can hear every beat and sound easily. As the song progresses, slowly increase the volume! The music should reach a point where it is the only possible thing to focus on – not painfully loud, but loud beyond anything else.
My hypothesis; You WILL astral project. You will find yourself in space, or some void where your body is stretching and contorting and dancing with incredibleness.
Notes: I want these albums first because I need to understand something of these.
I do not doubt that other music can easily induce the same effects, but I want to make sure of something with these.
If anyone is up for this challenge, please post here. I need participants!
I’ve done it a hundred times and its an absolutely fantastic unbelievable experience for me.
I’ve tried lying down in my friends basement (it’s a dark room with a nice 5.1 surroundsound) WITHOUT BEING HIGH and without being tired. I guess I kinda had a slight case of astral projection or at least trip. I were listening to “Heavyweight” which is also found one of the two albums. The “projection” started like a thought or picture in my head and as the song was playing it grew very VERY vivid. Here’s what happened:
I started out by flying through space.
I ended up on a red desert planet, where a group of tanks were raging war against a huge triangle with a mouth.
Then my feeling of dimensions (space) went crazy and it felt like there were several miles from my eyes to my eyelids, as if I were looking out from deeeeep within my own brain.
Then I was hurled into the kingdom of death where a sick and starving woman was sitting on a pile of bodies looking at a ray of light from the top of the pit.
Then everything went black and suddenly, colours started appearing and disappearing.
At last demons were circling around me, laughing at me.
This was a very creepy experience. I felt strange for a couple of days after that. Just after finishing the song, it felt the things I had seen was reality and reality was just something I was imagining. You should make sure you have some guts before trying it while actually being high.
I did it last night as soon as i read it. Music and weed goes hand in hand, especially IM. I smoked half a joint only. Although it was a great experience, feeling you body flowing with the beats, i don’t think i was high enough to feel it as you say.
I’ll maybe try it another day with some cookies, which can get me much, much, much higher.
@ijesuschrist, Well I am not limiting it in anyway, I am purely just saying in the strictest sense, this is not Astral Project, at least from what you have told me. Astral Projection in the strictest sense is numbing of body, energy like feelings throughout body, then leaving of the body, which is in fact, just moving inwardly.
@blankey, you should give it a try, don’t compare it just do it. If you know all the IMushroom songs, give 1200 mic’s a try, or shpongle, or like previously stated my play list or deadmau5 or something.
Once you’ve done it, unbiased, tell me what you find to be different than astral projection. To me astral projection is just lucid dreaming, except you’re aware of falling asleep, and leave the body.
This is lucid dreaming, but you project yourself outwards into the astral planes, hence astral projection… maybe astral projection fits this better than the more common association!
@ijesuschrist, Duuuuude. I am currently sitting up in my bed having to type this. I could only handle 5 minutes. That was easily the most intense thing I’ve ever experienced.
It started of with me seeing the music in forms, it was waves and then there were shapes, all going to the music. The waves and shapes then startling hurtling toward me forming a tunnel…and then I started to travel through the tunnel and it felt like I left my body. It was such a feeling of joy but I was overwhelmed and had to stop. Is this what was meant to happen. Freaking out a little right now. I’ve never tried anything like this, I only very recently started meditating.
@ijesuschrist, I can’t participate cause I listen to infected mushroom. But I guess I’ve unknowingly been gathering evidence for a while now. It’s been my experience that weed is useful for hypnogogic hallucinations but limits my dream recall.. therefore not beneficial for astral projecting/ lucid dreaming. Now if we trade that green for some california sunshine… you’de be hard pressed not to have an OBE. You listed bluethech as an alternative, I really like the song “probability tree.” also, Ott is great for this try “signals from bob”
@ijesuschrist, Hmm. Perhaps you just thrust yourself into the depths of your consciousness and thus the inner, higher frequency dimensions of space. Perhaps it is more like DMT and how it is a fucking rocket to the dimensions, instead of this slow process with Astral Projection.
And sure, I’ll give it a try, why not. I am very high right now and would do now but I’ve been sleeping all day. Needa get shit done today.
OK, so i am a huge fan of infected mushroom, was high to the point that i kept forgetting there was a bowl in my hand, and listened to it on my ipod through some of those big DJ headphones. i did not get “astral projections” per say but i was getting intense body highs, , and could feel whatever part of my body i directed my attention towards very strongly. i started thinking a whole lot of about being at a techno show and was imagining a club that was playing infected mushroom. there were dancers with LED lights attached to their naked bodies lighting up on beat, and tons of people jumping around dancing as well with complete abandon. it made me miss doing that because i don’t so much anymore. i thought laying on the back of my head wearing these headphones was pretty fucking uncomfortable after awhile. i attempted to find my ipod headphones, failed, and passed out extremely early for me. with no sleeping pills which i usually need to take. all cool stuff, didn’t astrally project but it certainly wasn’t my average night.
Aight, just on melatonin I got some pretty cool results. I got real comfortable and actually acted out the astral projection steps (focusing on each part of the body) while the music was playing. Around the third song the bed felt like it was rotating and rippling like a water bed in space. Then one or two songs later it felt as if my arms and legs were being sucked into the bed, as if me and the bed were becoming one. Nothing happened for a short while after that, but the I started to get a real uncomfortable feeling, and felt like slender man was watching me lol. I opened my eyes and of course nothing was there. So I started back at it again, sadly from scratch now. I got back to around the same point and started feeling uneasy again. This time I confronted the fear, and he got right in my face, hovering right over me. I was able to just smile at it and say you don’t scare me, and he went off.
I guess a short while after that 9mg of melatonin will put you to sleep regardless of the blaring music, because I woke up just now with it still playing. But I did get some cool results, and conquered what seems now to be a silly fear.
