Jamming with Other Musicians

1 year, 11 months ago

I took piano lessons for about 5 years as a kid/teenager. I recently got back into playing music and it’s different because I play with other musicians now. I picked up harmonica and taught myself by playing along with people and the radio, but when it comes to trying to jam on the keyboard, I feel stuck in the box of musical theory. I know my chords but when it comes to building and structuring melodies around existing music I find it very difficult with this specific instrument.
Does anyone have jamming experience or advice they can pass along?

Start with a couple of basic chords that go well together. Have the others play along to that, as the minutes go on start to elaborate. Before you know it you’ll be somewhere completely different :)
