Learning what not to post on HE
Telling people what is acceptable to post and what isn’t, isn’t what this community is about.. actually its the kind of behavior I’d imagine this website opposes strongly. (shame on you!) On these forums there are many categories and this topic fits into at least 2 of them.
You all did Nathan wrong and in my opinion shamed yourselves and this website you hold so dear. If you don’t want to engage in these type of discussions here then don’t… its simple.

@Manimal You should read some Peter Sloterdijk, he argues the sport phenomenon is just the de-spiritualisation of asceticism.Which in the long run is a good thing.
If you’re criticism is directed toward identifying yourself with a sport club (directed at profit and consumption), instead of sport in itself I kinda agree.
There are some moderators but they are flying under the radar. Except for those, there is Jordan and me.
Nah kid, this is acceptable.. it is a useless thread I wouldn’t have engaged in yes, but theres a lot of useless threads here. Only a baby would complain. Manimal was just being a hypocritical douche bag for no reason.. the fucker just posted in a thread about mythical creatures for christ sake.
Woooow guys! Don’t hate on a guy just because he wanted to discuss something that interested him. Perhaps he just wanted to see if any like minded people (people who enjoy philosophy and such) also liked sports just as he does.
On another note! I think that people can and should be able to post what ever the dang well please, wether it is saying they disagree with someones post, or actually contributes to the thread.
Nathan this is a place to discuss philosophy, hippy shit, drugs, other nonsense and crackpot theories. This is a open minded community where all discussions are open..
HOW DARE YOU TALK ABOUT SPORTS! rawrawrawrawr
Yeah I’m not fucking serious.
@Anon, yeh in hindsight I can admit theres no real framework or structure to what I posted, but i’m only just starting to get an insight to what this website provides and what kind of things to be discussing.
I am currently on loads of Liverpool forum pages, however the problem is so many people their are either biased or hypocritical. When i was looking through HE most of the users seemed open minded about such things so I was just asking if there were any out there.
It’s cool though what Manimal had to say was his own opinion, that’s what this whole site is created for right?
Take it Easy, Stox.
@Martijn I got nothing against sports, but I don’t see how a thread about which club you support is relevant to the site in any way at all. I’d go as far as to say that’s the worst kind of groupthink that exists, identifying with something you’re not part of, for no reason at all.
And let’s face it, the football of today isn’t a sport at all. It’s just a way to advertise, and a way to distract people. The people who compete don’t do it for the sport, they do it for the money. And a whole lot of other shit.
I do watch football occasionally, and Liverpool is my favourite team, but this thread is just so meaningless and irrelevant. How is anyone gonna get anything positive or useful out of a thread about whether or not you support some football team? How could it make anyone wiser or happier or teach them something new?
Nathan, excuuse Manimal. He tends to get a little… feisty on types of material he doesn’t agree with. I googled Scouse and what came up had nothing to do with football O_o
Personally, I know absolutely nothing about football or sports. Sorry.
I think there should be a little more quality control, because the way you see which topics are active is through that little sidebar on the right. If one of the spots is getting taken up with sports bs-ing, which you can do at a lot of other places on the internet, then that’s one fewer slot that could lead me to something interesting and mind-expanding.
To be fair, I do think that bs-ing about sports is one of the great social lubricants of our species.
I used to be a fan of Liverpool but that was… a loooooooong time ago. I was a fan of Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler. That was when I still played football on the street… Now I’m a PC addict and a boring nerd who talks too god damn much and listens to The Beatles.
the irony is that Jordan started this site as an homage to the benefits of drug use, thus “high existence”. but it turned out that most of the people who came here wanted to discuss deeper topics – philosophy, self-improvement, world affairs, spirituality – and so it evolved from a site about drug experiences to one of challenge, growth, and the exploration of ideas that we *can’t* discuss with most (or all) of the people in our everyday lives.
I don’t like using the collective “we”, but “we’re” not trying to hate on anybody, we’re challenging each other to do more, be more while we’re here in this one small corner of the web. To me this site is like the Dead Poet’s Society of the internet – Make your lives extraordinary . . . the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse . . .strive to find your own voice . . . live deep and suck out all the marrow of life.
read the comments here: http://www.highexistence.com/mission/. The chance to actually inspire others while we ourselves are growing is in my experience a very rare and special opportunity!! For all the people here that think the world is fucked up – HE has the potential to be an agent of change if we the members make it happen. Or, it can be Facebook 2. our choices will decide which one it becomes as it continues to grow – and it will continue to grow, either way.
g’nite everyone. and Go Red Sox!!
I like to think I’m open-minded but I can’t see two sides to this one. there are other forums on the web (http://bit.ly/yfWRbo) where lots of people passionately discuss football. I am a baseball fan and so I use baseball forums to discuss that sport. I wouldn’t bring up The Nature of Reality at baseball think factory anymore than I’d start a thread here about whether or not Mark Teixiera can start sac bunting to beat the shift. it’s not trolling, but I’d call it pollution.
I’m with Manimal in asking for just a bit of discretion in terms of the topics discussed here. and don’t even get me started on “our form”.
