"Liking" something on facebook is apparently not covered by the first ammendment
Is this not insane?
Happened in a local court case I guess.
so much for my not bitching about government!
I guess there was a local court case in which they ruled that a guy could be fired from his government job because he supported the running mate against the guy he was working for… and he showed his support by liking the guy’s facebook page. That seems like a form of speech to me.
Oh…. Seems like free speech to me. Can we not “like” whatever we please?
What was the job? To be corrupt as fuck?
I honestly can’t see any higher courts upholding the case… At least I really hope not for the sake of democracy. But it really is scary that someone in the judicial system can think that way
I’d have to know more about this. Do you have a link? I could see if the office depended on secrecy; that is, if the guy was privy to their campaign or whatever, he could use that info to give to his boss’s counterpart. It might be unethical for him to do so. Like I said, I would have to know more about this and how much the guy’s job impacted the campaign.
Oops.. good idea.
