Anyone see Mayweather blast Ortiz after the headbutt/ kiss/ point deduction?
I thought it was legal, but dirty as hell. Any other opinions?
I have no idea what you are talking about. Maybe I should get out more.
hahaha ^ funny. i think it should be legal. a fight is ruthless in the “wild” why should you put boundries on it in a ring/cage. the only thing i think is a total pussy thing is to kick someone in the nuts, its completely crippling and kind of ruins the sport of it but its whatever. long as the rules are consistent i guess
paul you can kill someone by head butting them.. the althletic commission isn’t to crazy about that.. or breaking spines which is pretty easy with an elbow to the back.. the rules are exactly where they should be.. although I do miss ‘Pride’s’ rules of soccer kicking and stomping downed oppenents..
As for the fight.. Mayweather is pure greatness.. but i agree with Aeron.. Mayweather is straight up scared of Pacquiao
@Matt P Yeah, you can also kill somebody by simply tapping their shoulder slightly too hard or other small everyday things like that. Nothing’s ever safe, safety is the biggest lie there ever was. A headbutt can kill, but so can pretty much anything, headbutts are part of fighting. Fighting sports are all about interesting and cool looking fights, headbutting looks cool and makes the fight more interesting. Why should it be banned?
in boxing headbutts are lame cause it cuts the opponent which in a fight can be detrimental to your vision, and cause the doctor to stop the fight, it’s not an issue of killing them in boxing.. A fighter does that when he is overwhelmed and wants the bitch way out.. or is just flat out mean as hell
fighters do not die from shoulder taps.. they are not the same as head butts.. I promise. in MMA where ppl fight on the ground, you could actually kill someone with a headbutt, or by elbowing straight down on the ground for example, you can crush an entire face in… should they allow blows to the back as well.. hell no.. that’s my opinion anyway, fighters shouldn’t be hurt that bad, I agree with the rules, it preserves careers, it’s a sport..
I think that it’s what the ref says right before the fight starts. “Protect yourself at all times.” I boxed for 8 years. I would have never been in a position that Ortiz was in. Not to mention, he headbutted May. He was a man who was clearly being outclassed and struck out in retaliation. After that, I felt like anything was fair. If you choose that path of playing dirty, you can’t cry when you leave yourself wide open for a legal hit. You can blame May. But it was on him for being out of position. Just my opinion.
i know what monsters are capable of… i understand why it’s illegal.. ppl won’t just start dropping dead that’s for sure, didn’t mean it like that, but your head is absolutely one of your most dangerous weapons, and scar tissue cuts easier so fighters will always bleed easier every time they fight, concussions are easy to cause from a head butt, duh.. and a concussion is a brain bleed.. sound good?? the rules are good ones.. I should have said it preserves careers in the first place… everybody would end up like Ali..
anyways, ortiz was bein gay and mayweather just bitch slapped him lol.. that was my take anyway
you mean it’s boxing not mma.. its insane to allow it in mma.. end of line.. as for boxing headbutts would ruin boxers faces and they would bleed everytime they got jabbed from scar tissue opening up, which is must easier to do then reg skin, not to mention the are devastating blows and can EASILY give you a concussions, and don’t even say ‘well you can get a concussion anyway’ no shit, but it’s not the same as a headbutt, I’ve been involved with this for years, I understand the desire to see a great fight but you have to understand fighters don’t deserve to be put in a ring and allowed to mame each other for your desire for blood, that is on the lines of dog fighting, it should be a technical battle where will and techniques wins the fight, not devastating headbutts.. those are the reason the rules are the way they are… period
