New Website – Complete!
Hey guys. I’ve been working on a website for the past month or so. Its based on setting big goals, pursuing them and sharing your progress with others. It has personal profiles, forums and messaging capabilities for registered users (which, hopefully should be functioning properly).
Check it out and let me know what you think!
Some quick feedback on the look, content and functionality of the website would really help me out. I want to make it as enjoyable and easy to use as possible for you guys :)

I just posted my video interview of Jordan. Check it out below!
@zhaetur, Hey man. thanks so much for the color selection ebook. I’ll definitely check it out
@mick, Hey Mick, thanks for the encouragement and constructive criticism. I think you’re right in that I definitely need to set myself apart from the rest. I’m thinking I might incorporate lots of video to do that, as well as start a podcast. As of now, I obviously won’t have any chance against this website or other ‘big players’ in the website/blog industry. But this is only the beginning, and most bloggers I hear about only got popular after a year or so.
I’m really glad I gave you inspiration after reading my Greatness List. Set BIG goals, the “sky’s the limit”!
Did either of you try to register? If so, let me know if you were able to do so successfully or if you ran into problems/errors.
Do you have any comments on the content of the posts on the site?
@jpete011, Thanks for the feedback. I can definitely see that..would it help if I made it into a PDF guide so that people would be expecting something more concrete? Or do you think I should just shorten the message and then post the whole thing as an article?
Also..Good stuff on the Podcasts! I’m checking them out right now, I think that’s a great idea.
Keep us posted on new updates too :D
@mick, thanks so much! Yeah I am posting new content up every week so keep checking in. I am even interviewing Jordan Lejuwaan tomorrow night about self discovery and “finding your bliss.” I will likely be posting this interview in the beginning of next week.
I also plan to interview Martijn Schirp this week. He is traveling in Indonesia at the moment (I believe) so we are trying to find a time that works for the both of us. Stay tuned!
Thanks again for the kind words, man
The website is Phenomenal!!! Genius idea.
I have simple idea that could make it even better. I don’t know if you noticed but all of the great websites have a video in their homepage explaining who they are or what the website’s goal is, or what can be learned in the website. Consider adding one of those (they can be short 2-5mins)
@feren6, I’d say you should just put that on your website in the “About” section. Or you could put it as an “Introduction” post or something. If you keep it on the emails, I’d say shorten it way down to a page or less. People get a ton of emails now a days and don’t have time to read long messages
Thanks for the feedback on the podcasts! So far people seem to like them. I was kind of slow gathering my thoughts at some points, but I’ll get better!
First, I commend you for creating a website like this. There are many sites aimed at bettering life, but I think they’re all unique. Working on a project like this is never a waste of time.
Second, from reading previous posts, it sounds like you’ve significantly improved the site in the past few months, but the only thing I’d prefer is that the posts were titled links with a subhead rather than each post being fully displayed under each topic section. That would clean up the page and make the site look more concise overall. Seeing everything displayed at once can overwhelm a reader.
Also, there’s no white space between posts, which can also overwhelm a reader. Our eyes search for a break in text. The posts individually are formatted well, but since there is no break between posts, it can strain the eyes. If posts were linked as I suggested above, that would solve the issue anyway.
Good luck with your work!
@longlivehedwig, Hey thanks man for the advice! I considered your suggestion and made some changes: I changed the format so that posts only show title links and then a “Read more…” link, instead of displaying the full post. Now on the front page you can quickly scroll through 10 posts without having to read through each one. In addition, on the right side of the page there is a list of “Top Posts & Pages.”
I think this is all a big improvement; however, I’m considering making the featured images on the main page even smaller so that the reader can see even more posts without having to scroll so much. What do you think?
@jpete011, Got it. The number one thing that I like about the site is that you post videos! It’s really unique to put a face and voice to the site — that’s something that I should do going forward with my website.
A couple of things that I think you can improve on:
-When I click on the other links, it starts using an IP address as the domain. Are you hosting it locally or something? Gotta make sure you set up the right domain masking..I’m not too sure how that works though.
-Less videos. I loved the video aspect, but for the cold shower one, I don’t want to sit there and watch over 3 videos. Maybe you should do 1 in the beginning to voice your thoughts, and then one at the end to reflect on. Now that would be awesome!
-Theme. Take a look at ThemeForest.com — there’s a lot of high quality themes that you can use and then tweak to your liking. The theme is you have is okay, but i think with one of these it’ll make things 10x more appealing.
Just my two cents, but I love where you’re heading with this. Especially the Greatness List..haha go to space? Let me know when you go..I’m down.
@mick, @vasco, Hey guys, I’ve been having problems with the VPS (the site goes down unpredictably about once every week). I have to restart it each time to get it working again.
The customer support guy said that I might have to back-up everything, delete it all and then re-download it onto the server.
For now I’ll just restart it. Should be working in about 5 minutes!
@jpete011, Ye… I registered. One thing that did happen was when I received the confirmation email and clicked on the link it said I had my registration completed but then the next page I clicked on it looked for a registration code. I just clicked on the forum tab and it seemed to just go away. Also I couldn’t crop my avatar and an error message just kept appearing.
Hope you keep trying at it. Looking forward to watching it progress! :)
