Manimal, I watch porn, but usually just girls naked running around or whatever. Sometime softcore stuff, and I have a great sex life. Also, how does masturbating make a person weak, and die younger? Do you have any proof of this? If you do, I would love to see it. Also, you said, “The porn of today is the essence of ALL that is wrong in our society.” I don’t believe this to be valid. Not all porn that is made today is at the standards you are against. You say you watch porn occasionally but have standards, as do I. So are you for it or against it? What is so wrong about a nice fap now and then to naked people? |

Agreed Kevin. I have heard of the thought that “wasting sperm” makes you weaker, but that was a belief back in western times, and as far as I know its not true. They thought since sperm was the “life essence”, that wasting it would ruin your life source or whatever you call it. i fancy pornhub and xtube myself. This is really interesting because i just saw Zimbardo give a TED talk and he briefly mentions the addiction to porn (and media in general). With most drug/chemical addictions you want more more more; but with porn and media you want DIFFERENT and more variety. I totally see that. Fascinating, no? |

On the monogamy subject, we’re actually one of the few species which are physically designed for monogamy and also one of the few where sex is enjoyable and part of a bonding experience rather than purely for survival of the species. I’ll try and find the articles on it if anyone cares for some further reading. |

A lot of innovation in the field of video streaming came from the porn industry. Also, I believe porn sites were some of the first sites to set up payment options online. Also, I am one of those people who thinks that monogamy isn’t natural. However, I am someone who sees herself settling down and being monogamous eventually, just because I think having that bond with someone will be really special. But that’s my choice; I don’t think monogamy should be forced on anyone, and I don’t think that we should be so fucking high and mighty about people who choose to live unmonogamous lifestyles. |

@Ellie I’m unabashed enough to admit that I too am one who always gets off better from well-written pornographic literature. Setting and character development is pretty important. When the settings are gyms, libraries, research labs, the outdoors, and even public places, and when the characters’ sexiness is a little over the top, the stories can get rather heated. I’ve written a few, and even draw barely realistic pinups when I’m feeling aroused and creative at the same time. That way, even though it’s a masturbatory substitute for real sex, there’s at least some (admittedly baser) mental stimulation involved. A projection of your own making, not someone else’s. The nature of fantasizing should be getting to know yourself, no? Quick wanks never seem worthwhile, especially when you’re sitting there in a mess of bodily fluids with your pants down, realizing you just fucked yourself. Similarly, watching porn just kinda seems like a quick, mentally fruitless embellishment to pleasurably fix the all too common inconvenience of being horny. |
