Quotes to get you through the hard days

3 years, 6 months ago

I’m not complaining, or maybe I am, but today is just one of days when I really have to work hard on seeing the good si of things.
I’m sitting in the waiting room for my 3rd doctor visit of the day, it’s raining cats and dogs outside, my wellingtons have given me blisters on booth heals, missed the train with 3 minutes so i had to wait for 57 minutes till the next one left, I have terrible period pain (drugs give me back the ability to walk) and my ear won’t stop hurting (the reason why I’m going to so many doctors)

The thing just is that when I was walking to this final appointment, my heals bleeding and rain dripping inside my coller I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing to myself (I’m a crazy lady in the making), you see it hurt soo bad that the only thing I could think of was a quote I just read in Haruki Murakami’s book What I Talk About When I Talk About Running which is
"Pain is inevitable. Suffering is a choice"

On other days it might be quotes like "work so hard on your bad sides that they are considered interesting characteristics" (quote I came up with when I got sick and tired of all the very obnoxious artists coming to the cafe where I worked), or "Failing to plan, is planning to fail" etc etc etc

Now I wonder, what sort of quotes get you through bad days, hard times, awkward moments?

“If there is a sin against life, it consists perhaps not so much in despairing of life as in hoping for another life and in eluding the implacable grandeur of this life.” – Albert Camus

“The best way to say, “Thank you, God,” is by letting go of the past and living in the present moment, right here and now. Whatever life takes away from you, let it go. When you surrender and let go of the past, you allow yourself to be fully alive in the moment. Letting go of the past means you can enjoy the dream that is happening right now.”

-Don Miguel Ruiz, ‘The Four Agreements’

“Our society has rules. You must follow these rules. And all these rules are written by intelligent people. And what does it mean? These rules are written by the most intelligent people and they make use of them. Since stupid people aren’t able to understand these rules, they will be hidden things. These rules will continue to serve these intelligent people. For example, taxes, salaries, insurances, allocations. All these intelligent people will continue to make them incomprehensible. And stupid people will only have to try to understand their meaning. You all think that thinking is bothering. So, all your life, you’ll be cheated and you’ll pay a lot. Intelligent people will take benefit of this situation, and stupid people will be cheated and lose. That’s how our society works. So, if you don’t want to be cheated, if you don’t want to lose… STUDY!!”. – Dragon Zakura
