@thomaschong, I heard that people will frequently mix in other things, like X or amphetamines, and this can distinguish some from others. There any truth to this?
I did, that’s adding to my disappointment, haha. HOWEVER, I have heard that it isn’t to be “smoked” but rather left on a hot plate to smoke up a room then you just meditate and chill out.
@aliwine, the active chemical in Salvia is potent as fuck but it’s very lightly distributed in the plant itself so the plain plant cannot be considered potent. This is why you probably just got a bad taste in your mouth.
For those interested in Salvia, you’d need to order an “extract” 20x or above, but be very careful using it.
I got the 40X both times. @nightowl,
Ive tried marijuana, salvia, spice, and mushrooms. Spiritually wise, mushrooms wins hands down. Recreationally, marijuana wins. Salvia was about a minute or two of uncontrollable laughter and the entire universe spinning at a thousand mph, no insights here. Spice was retarded, smoke marijuana.
I didn’t include tobacco and alcohol because they don’t help shape you as who you are.
I refuse to try any chemical, man made compounds besides DMT because ayahuasca is only done in tribal ceremonies.
@aliwine, Salvia is sold as a incense. Perhaps next time I buy it I’ll try that out, the meditation hot plate method.
I think I may like to try it out as well, but I don’t know where to get a hot plate.
@aliwine, dang breh, dunno what to say. I truly only know of salvia chemically and from the reports of others as well as what my own studies inform me is true of chemicals that behave this way biochemically.
Hot plates are very common, like for keeping food warm at potlucks and stuff.
Here’s my order, since people have been listing theirs:
The first time I ever smoked weed it was out of a bong, and we smoked some medical marijuana. I was 14. I have NEVER been so high before OR after that experience. I had one of the most psychedelic experiences of my entire life. I wasn’t sure if weed was harmful, so I psyched myself out into thinking that I had died. My friend told me that my eyes rolled back into my head and I blacked out. It was the craziest thing ever. Time froze and I saw my friend drinking water from a water bottle, but the water was suspended in mid-air. It was crazy, lol.
I smoked cigs for a year or so, but I was able to quit after I got my wisdom teeth pulled because I wasn’t able to smoke. So I just quit. That’s about it… Cigarettes are nasty, in my opinion. They calm your nerves, sure, but so does meditation, and meditation is good for you.
I had spinal fusion surgery in December of ’08 when I was 15, and as a result I became VERY addicted to Percocet and Vicodin. I took a shitload of them over the span of two years…and, to be honest, it was amaaaazing. BUT, it was an addiction nonetheless, and if I hadn’t stopped I could have done some serious damage to my liver (not that I wasn’t already). But yeah, painkillers are so nice. They make you feel very blissful and warmhearted. But I believe it’s better to go do a hard workout to get that feeling naturally. Painkillers are just artificial endorphins. You can produce endorphins naturally :)
There’s not much to say about MDMA. I mean, there is, but it’s pretty simple. It is called “ectasty” for a reason, and is probably the most aptly named drug out there. It literally is ecstasy in the truest sense of the word. NOTHING feels better than when you take a couple E pills, listen to some electronic music, and hang out with some close friends (especially of the opposite sex. Holy fucking shit….)
Adderall and Vyvanse (the new adderall) are basically just prescription stimulants that give you a lot of energy and enable you to focus laser beams out of your eyeballs if you take too much. They are very helpful if you can’t focus (WHICH DOESN’T MEAN THAT YOU HAVE ADHD. YOU MIGHT JUST BE REALLY SMART/CREATIVE AND ARE EASILY BORED BY MONOTONY IN SCHOOL. DON’T LET DOCTORS FORCE THESE ON YOU. THEY WILL TRY.) But….uhhhh…..hehe….anyway, these stimulants are helpful when it comes to school work. They are addicting though, so be careful.
And then there’s mushrooms.
Oh, mushrooms. <3
I'm tempted to write a huge monologue about mushrooms, but I am not going to do that. All I am going to say is this:
If you take mushrooms on a nice, sunny day with one or two CLOSE friends at a very, very comfortable place, like your house or something when your parents aren't home, or your apartment, or wherever you live, you can honestly have a LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE. You owe it to yourself to take mushrooms at least once in your life. Every human being alive deserves this experience… It is utterly sublime, a spiritual journey that takes you to the center of your mind, ending with an intellectual crescendo, a cognitive orgasm, a merging with the entire cosmos, complete dissolution into the pools of heaven's love. Ahhhhh :)
I'm not too knowledgable about LSD because I have only taken it like 3 or 4 times, and only two of those times did I take more than one tab. But, from what I have gathered, LSD is a more controllable trip. It makes you feel like a Greek philosopher mixed with a cup of Jello-pudding… with some John Lennon sprinkled on top. If you take a ton of it, you have a pretty intense experience. But, if you only take like 2 tabs, it is just a really groovy (when you are on LSD, you truly understand why the hippies said "groovy" a lot. It really IS groovy!) experience, a funktastic, existentially satisfying episode of tubular delirium.
LSD makes me feel like a scientist when I am one it. Whenever I am on LSD I just want to perform science experiments and deconstruct the Universe to understand it better.
Oh… I forgot to write about Salvia. Well, fuck Salvia. That's really all I have to say about that. It's just a frightening, stupid experience that doesn't really leave you with anything profound or insightful. I am only speaking from my experience of course, BUT, many of my friends have reported the same thing, so I am pretty confident in this assumption. Do it if you want, but it's much cooler to take Psilocybin mushrooms or LSD.
Psychedelics are not "drugs." They are sort of like…spiritual microscopes. They allow you to take your mind out of your head, lay it out flat in front of you, and examine it as you would a map. The reason why people have "bad trips" is because they are not in touch with who they really are, so when they trip out, the psychedelic exposes all of the repressed issues that they have buried in their subconscious mind. It is like throwing a bunch of dead bodies into your basement, and one day you go down there and turn on the lights. Obviously if you have been doing nothing but throwing dead bodies into your basement you are going to flip the fuck out when you go down there and turn on the lights.
BUT! If you take care of your basement, you have nothing to worry about. Be honest, be kind, be compassionate, be gentle, be forgiving, and be selfless (at least try, lol). If you follow these rules and take a psychedelic, you will experience the extreme bliss that comes from a clean conscience. If you are a dick, psychedelics will utterly destroy you. BUT, YOU WILL EMERGE AS A NEW PERSON. Psychedelics take your ego (the psychological virus who cares about its looks, its money, its popularity, etc) and shatter it into ten thousand pieces. What is left is your TRUE nature, your TRUE identity, which is indeed the Universe itself having a human experience. :)
I misspelled ecstasy. Oooops
@adamsmith, well done, sir. This write up was fantastic and, aside form the bad news on Salvia, I liked all of what I heard. I really wanna get to that place where it all just explodes and I can face the inside instead of the outside for once. I have had some pretty good times, but have yet to have the centering experience you describe. I hope to, I want to, but really, I feel I NEED to. I think we all do, to a degree.
Anyway, thanks for the input. This thread has been really awesome so far and I hope more people like you jump in it!
There’s a Zen saying that goes, “Those in a hurry do not arrive.”
So, please, be in no rush to have this experience. It will happen when it happens. To be honest though, it is not so much of an experience as it is a realization of an ongoing experience. Let me explain. Deep within your mind is a genius. And, to be honest, “genius” is an understatement, and a pretty horrible one at that. Deep within your mind is GOD, and all that you have to do to allow this reality to come to the surface is just let go. Just let go of your desires and your comforts and your worries, and (if you’re on a psychedelic) it will hit you like a ton of bricks.
The Dark Side of The Moon is an incredible album to listen to when you’re on a psychedelic, as cliche as it seems, it honestly is like a guide through your entire life. Give it a shot, God, and wake up. I know who you are, and you do too ;)
Oh, and you’re welcome dude :) These conversations are so satisfying to have.
@adamsmith, wow bro. Pretty powerful imagery there. I mean, yeah, I definitely like to let life happen and seamlessly meld with it, so I will seek this, but I will not force it. I know that the best time and place exists, and I want to find it and have it be meaningful.
Honestly, what would be the best thing ever, is to have this community just meet and trip together. we could go into little groups or stay alone, but to just all be there. Can you picture how amazing such a thing could be?
And yeah, I heard about the Dark Side Of The Moon thing. I sampled part of it in a past encounter, but I was baby-stepping into it.
If anyone wants an entertaining mushroom trip report, here’s mine: http://www.highexistence.com/topic/my-adventure/
In my opinion, Mushrooms and Marijuana are really all you need. I am against putting artificially synthesized chemicals in my body, so I have not and will not ever try LSD or DMT or Spice(especially not, this one is just stupid) or anything similar. But I don’t think anybody needs anything more than simple mushrooms in the first place. They are wondrous and magical and spiritually revealing and just plain beautiful. I love the fact that they can be picked in the wild and consumed at once, or dried first and eaten. It means that our prehistoric ancestors could have consumed them, before Man was corrupted by civilization. In fact, I believe psilocybin mushrooms have been known to have grown naturally around Mt. Sinai around biblical times…
But the experience of tripping mushrooms, for me, was just an intensely deep compassion and love for everything that is alive. I walked out into the woods, and I could feel the life-force within the trees, the moss, the grass, and the water. They didn’t look any different, but they were absolutely beautiful, because I could feel the life-force radiating through my body. I took off my shirt and started dancing in a state of pure bliss. Every person who I thought of while tripping (I was alone), I could only feel an intense joy and appreciation for. I wanted to contact each and every person to tell them how much they meant to me, and how beautiful they are, even though I was only casually acquainted with many of them.
At one point I laid down next to a dog and a cat, and the three of us cuddled on the living room floor. They were my friends pets, and had never been so friendly with me before, but I believe they could sense the intense compassion and love radiating out from my body. I even felt and intense love and appreciation for these animals.
In addition to all this, I found that every time I laughed gently, I experienced a small pocket of euphoria that radiated throughout my body from my heart-area. I was constantly letting out this controlled, giggle-laugh, that seemed to represent an overwhelming appreciation with the beauty of the world. It felt like, we live in a world so unbelievable beautiful and perfect, all I could do was laugh. But it was never an out-of-control laugh, it was a little giggle-burst every few seconds.
I guess I kind of missed the point of this thread, but I was inspired by Adam Smith’s post, which was great. I would honestly advise people to avoid all drugs except marijuana, mushrooms, and alcohol if you like to party… You never know what artificial chemicals are secretly doing to your body that might effect you in the longterm.
@tymr, got some good news for you.
Technically speaking it doesn’t get more natural than DMT. It’s a skip away from serotonin and uses the same receptors. It’s more natural to the human experience than even cannabis and mushrooms.
Just try it and see.
@tymr, Hey there.
First of all, nice trip! It was awesome to read, and I just love hearing about everyone having such an awesome connection with themselves when they dive into this stuff. It is just great to know that people are out there exploring themselves this passionately.
Anyway, I am totally with you on the chemical thing and respect that practice. You will be happy to know that both DMT and Mescaline both occur naturally and you will not have to limit yourself if you choose to go further. I learned just today that DMT is naturally sourced in a certain plant mixture commonly called Ayahuasca and Mescaline is the active ingredient, so to speak, in Peyote.
I am ready to have such an intense moment as the one you described, and eagerly await its arrival (though obviously not going to force such things)
And what ^^^ he said =)
@tymr, fuck yeah dude, that story is completely awesome. I know the dance you speak of. It is the dance of utter simplicity. When you are on mushrooms, life makes SO much sense, and the Universe makes SO much sense, and it is all SO beautiful and perfect, that all there is left to do is hop around and wave your arms singing, “la la la di da!”
I would love nothing more than to meet up with all 10,000+ HEthens and just dance around and sing. Ahhhhhhhh :D
Oh, and Tymr, you did DMT last night when you went to sleep. Hehe ;) It is being produced by your brain all the time. What do you think dreams are made of?
@adamsmith, what if there was a substance you could ingest that activated that part of your brain, increasing production from your natural reserves?
Explain what you mean.
You might be interested in Mucuna Pruriens. Look them up. I used to take them all the time. I think I’ll start taking them again. :)
@adamsmith, you said that DMT is used within our bodies when we sleep. If we could make our bodies release that DMT early or with more abundance, I feel like we’d have a lovely natural exploration. What is this thing you speak of, Mucuna Pruriens?
Also, tag me so i don’t have your responses go unnoticed please =)
