Every online “forum” will almost always have member who spend way too much time there. They are usually recognized as being over-bearing, excessively bombastic and somewhat deluded.

I was listening to a radio program where they were discussing online trolls and how they tend to come from abusive childhoods, which accounts for they’re fevered Egos (even though they tend to try to give the impression of the exact opposite).

any thoughts? :)

Internet Troll 173 up, 58 down
A person whose sole purpose in life is to seek out people to argue with on the internet over extremely trivial issues. Such arguments can happen on blogs, Facebook, Myspace and a host of others.
The best thing you can do to fight an internet troll is to not answer..or report them.
“God, Jeromy won’t stop posting about Larry’s bad spelling in that conversation.”

I do not think that there is torlss her non on the high sxistence becaus when i get on hear i feel safe and secyur and deliquent to be able to expres myrself with alot of feeling and people listen to me on hear on when i want or need help ok so you NEED to. be. better at when you think torlss are around ok?

@tigerturban, I don’t agree with this at all. A troll is someone that is – to put it in my native tongue – a windup, someone that pokes fun for the sake of a reaction. Immature as it is, it can be entertaining and I think we may all find ourselves trolling at some point, whether when bored or deliberately. It doesn’t mean you’ve had a shitty childhood.
Basically, all thumbs are fingers but not all fingers are thumbs (whether anatomically correct or not, the point stands).

Someone who causes dismay to someone on the internet that they don’t even know, much less befrended on a site. They are most likely known to put lame or hurtful comments on someone’s facebook, YouTube video (mainly videos in which the user is attempting something new like animation or clay mation), or anywhere you can openly post comments. Internet Trolls are known to also have nver contributed to the site they terrorize on and have a lame username. The best way to control the troll is to post a hurtful comment back or just delete, mark as spam, or report the comment.

It’s now become ‘cool’ to be an internet troll, which completely defeats the purpose. True trolling is an art, it is extremely subtle and quiet, and only until the bait has been taken have people realized they have been manipulated and shamed at someone else’s expense. True trolls are rare these days, as to be an effective one you have to be extremely cunning and smart, which few people truly are. There is a difference between someone who posts inflammatory comments to get reactions, and an actual troll.

Remember when trolls were actually funny, and their shaking things up was like a fresh breeze? I miss those days, back then it was nice when a troll dropped in.

But that was a long time ago.

Now they’re just tragic.

@tigerturban, agreed. Its the ones who are genuinely SERIOUS that tick me off. There’s a few on here that get under my skin, but hey, that is on every site. Best not to let them get to you, thats what they want!

I would never call someone a troll, there are far more creative ways to understand the reasons behind everything said. I really think that you must be downright stupid to even complain about trolls, it just shows that you have absolutely nothing useful to do with your time.
