Don’t know if there are any other admirers of Hitch here, but I was faced with the unfortunate news this morning that he has finally succumbed to cancer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-16212418 If you’re unfamiliar with him and his body of work, I strongly suggest you check him out. If you know him, you understand how the world lost one of its truly great objective and passionate minds. "The only position that leaves me with no cognitive dissonance is atheism. It is not a creed. Death is certain, replacing both the siren-song of Paradise and the dread of Hell. Life on this earth, with all its mystery and beauty and pain, is then to be lived far more intensely: we stumble and get up, we are sad, confident, insecure, feel loneliness and joy and love. There is nothing more; but I want nothing more." |

I love the man… working on a sketch of him right now that I will later paint. |
