Self-Awareness | Transcending the ego!

2 years, 4 months ago

I hope you’re all fantastically well.

I’ve been a member on this site for a little while and felt the desire to start connecting, engaging and inspiring conversation around the theme of overcoming the ego. We spend our lives incarcerated by the limiting beliefs and tendencies of the ego, its fears, its separation, its inability to intuit, flow, connect with consciousness beyond form.

I’ll kick start with this powerful article around recognising the disabilitating effects of the ego.

http://creatingaffluence.wordpress.com/2012/11/17/how-fascinated-about-yourself-are-you/

This discussion then is about developing our awareness of the ego and of our true nature. Please do share your lessons, experiences and knowledge to help others and us all to be overcoming our ego and recognising our true self beyond name and form

Enjoy. I look forward to connecting with you soon.

With much love, warmth and enthusiasm,

Adam

@creatingaffluence, Ultimately we are selfish beings and we should be, realizing that is how you find the flow. The thing is that altruism is an illusion, but behaving in a manner that creates less friction between your existence and the existence of others has incredible merit.
If you are constantly being inconsiderate toward others for what you percieve as a gain to yourself then this may jade the view others have of you, you may forge enemies and others will in general be inconsiderate toward you.
This sucks because a person you may rub the wrong way may turn out to have strength where you are weak and they could have contributed to rounding your being, to develop a greater psychological balance and an insight into appropriate behaviour, but your short-sightedness has burnt that bridge.
Yes, there are times when you should put yourself first, this is nessecary in recharging your efficiency and generally people can tell when you deserve or need to do this, but you also have to weigh up how vital something is to you and if it is worth the cost others will have to endure because of it.

What is the ego and how does it limit us?

Well ultimately it is a collection of unconscious programs that run us when we are not present, when we are not aware and switched on. Ultimately if we are feeling or thinking anything that we haven’t actually consciously chosen it is the ego!!!!

Check out this article to discover more around what I mean:
