First- the word ‘Contrite” means sincerely apologetic. I did not know what this meant before Oprah used it describing Lance Armstrong lol.
Second, Synthol is an injectable oil some bodybuilders and / or slackers inject under their skin to make their muscles look massive. It must be used commonly or else it will be washed away to other parts of the body ( sounds highly unhealthy ) Also it adds absolutely no strength and you end up looking like a complete idiot, its hilarious. Good Synthol use for a few great laughs at the people with no back bone to put in the hard work themselves.

I learned something very interesting today from neil degrasson
I was traditionally led to believe that the exact necessities for life in the universe require the sun and it’s sunlight, but in actuality all that is required is energy and water. He brought up the reminding fact that life thrives on the ocean floor where the sun doesn’t shine.
This was a really good thing to learn for me.
This is my favourite discussion on here. I never want it to end.
Recently I learned that there was a serial killer who bought a bunch of connected stores during the time of the Chicago World Fair and turned it into a “hotel” that was actually a maze of rooms, with doors opening to brick walls, no windows, and some gas chambers. He murdered tons of people, selling the bodies to medical schools. He then traveled the county performing numerous more murders. He was not caught for a very long time.
When I first heard about it, I was skeptical because I wondered how I hadn’t heard of such a crazy-ass story before, but turns out it’s true.
I’ve learned recently it’s important to step back and examine your life. I feel that I spend too much time doing things that are in the end, unimportant when I could be using that time to do things that will benifit me more and lead me to feel happier. More yoga, more reading, taking the time to learn something new everyday, etc. Just something I’ve been comtemplating today anyways!
I recently learned that a largely accepted theory behind cows being sacred to Hindus is that early Hindus ate the psychedelic mushrooms that grew from cow excrement and many of their trips were recorded as awakening conversations with gods.
Caterpillars. They are just being caterpillars. But at some point these cells show up from nowhere. The regular caterpillar cells tries to attack them and keep them down, but eventually the appearing cells overtake the caterpillar and wraps the caterpillar into a coccoon. And next, the caterpiller turns into a butterfly. Amazing!
@trek79 Went out of my way to look him up to see who he is. I never saw Blade Runner but not I may be tempted to at some point in the near future.
Random bit- Jeffery Lurie the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles has been the owner for longer than 20 years now. The team started at a value probably somewhere around $100 million I would guess but is now worth around $ 1 Billion. His job is to simply hire someone to run the company. In a sense, he is hiring someone to do his own job.
@dspencer, Funny you should mention that I find gave that book to me and told me it would blow my mind. I thought he was a little more “out-there” than me so I did not read it. But since this is the second time someone has mentioned it to me I may have to pick it up:)
I’ve learned that around 50 years ago, people had a higher threshold of up to 26000Hz hearing sensation with great tolerance, while now our threshold rarely exceeds 18000Hz. That’s because of the loud noises we’re forced to hear and are irritant factors, which came along with the urbanization and the technical development of transportation, the modern manufacturing and the living standards of today’s life. So if you listen a lot to your mp3 players or go to clubs a lot, and at the same time you have annoying neighbors yelling like they just got out of the wilderness – your hearing may be damaged and you could hear ringing in your ears until the rest of your life, unless you decide to protect yourself from loud environments and sources (unfortunately that’s something some of us have to just fucking deal with despite reality) – then you’re supposed heal your hearing. This is a short video I watched a long time ago but with useful stuff to learn from. http://www.ted.com/talks/julian_treasure_the_4_ways_sound_affects_us.html “When the birds are singing, things are safe. When they stop, you need to worried.”
