Should The Human Race Carry On This Way
Do you think that the general population, as well as yourself, would be happier if all humans lived as people more in-tuned with nature? Or stay in this modern industrial way of live always modernizing?
I think it’s gone beyond happiness, it’s now a necessity. The human race has ignored the way that the planet actually works, and we’ve relied on oil for absolutely everything (remember that everything that’s made of plastic is oil. Look around you and see how much plastic is in your room). We’ve passed peak oil production and we’re running out, and I have no idea how the hell the human race is gonna make it through unless we find another way FAST.
I think the question here maybe isn’t so much should we but rather can we. We currently live in a world where were outstripping our resources and most likely irreversibly altering our planet. There’s a good chance that, despite all our science and resourcefulness, we will come to a point where we just can’t dig ourselves out. I mean how many man-made (or natural) occurrences threaten to wipe out this way of life everyday? Honesty though I do not believe people will change their ways unless their absolutely forced too especially in areas where big business (and lots of money) support the status quo.
I think conditions will have to become abhorrently bad before we start seeing mass changes in the population towards a different way of living
I believe nature is essential to true happiness and many humans live unfulfilled lives because they’re too caught up in technology and conveniences and this modern-day way of life. Rarely, if ever, enjoying a sense of connection to nature. It’s very sad.
I wouldn’t say happier but I would say it would be more simplistic. People have lost the value of how and why the small things matter the most, even when people think or say that now just imagine being homeless and saying that to yourself…. I think it would be more beneficial but I wouldn’t say people would be happier. and as far as our industrialized world; I think some aspects are needed but the majority of “things” in existence are relatively useless if you think about it
I think there should be balance. We dont have to completely cut out technology, but we should still dramatically decrease our use of it. If everyone just cut out all waste and just took what they needed, the world would be a better place.

Humans don’t all carry on in any one way.
It’s a matter of individuals, not humanity. Do what you will, let others do the same, everyone gets the consequences of their own actions. Don’t meddle, don’t let others affect you like that, and don’t get into this groupthink. Humans are doing different shit, and get different consequences.
Sometimes I think our minds and bodies have evolved to point of no return. We will always be building and inventing, naturally overindulging in earth’s resources. My guess is that we will begin to discover pristine planets with untouched resources and move in. Our population is too big and our only predator is staring at us in the mirror.
“if all humans lived as people more in-tuned with nature?”
We are a part of nature. This is how our species developed, therefore we are in-tune with nature.
Would we be better off with cleaner air? Hell yea. The air is getting polluted because beings of nature did things that caused the air to be polluted. We’re still nature. The air is still natural air, just with crap in it that harms our species. Nature doesn’t care if we’re happy or not. Nature just does what it does. The thriving part is up to us.
I know that wasn’t the point of your topic, I just feel that people ignore the fact that we are part of this nature that people decide that we ignore.
On topic: As far as the human race continuing the way it is, Human’s do what they do, and everything ends with change. Maybe we’re on the right path and after all the suffering there will be thriving again. Or who knows, maybe a new master race one day. As far as I can tell, it doesn’t matter. Nature does what it does and I’m here to see it. Or rather… the mass of matter that I pluralize with ‘I’ is here and parts within it observe the Nature around it.
@Inner Breeze, Perfect.
Ahhh live off the land. It’s pure life, not everyone alive is ready for pure life….
Let’s bear in mind that there are tribes out there who are completely unaffected by this financial crisis. It means nothing to them, if they’ve even heard about it, and they’re gonna get through it just fine. So thinking of it as ‘the human race’ isn’t quite right.
No, humanity should not go on this way. We do need the technology because there are so many of us, it makes sense to use it to provide the needs we have. But the general population, as you call them, are idiots and they think they need much more than they actually do, and stuff they know they don’t need they want any way. Because we have a choice on how we live our lives people will continue to exist in this frivolous and inefficient manner, but what would you have done? Take this freedom and dictate lifestyle? Make laws of conformity that encroach apon civil liberty? I mean unless someone is hurting others, why should we make such laws? Oh wait, we are destroying the planet and at a critical mass everyone will suffer greatly, but does this possibility justify a martial state? Perhaps…
