I’ve tripped shrooms a dozen or so times, and am fairly used to the trip and how to handle myself. I’m curious now to trip acid, but before I do so I have a few questions.
1) How do the two trip’s compare?
2) Which is a more intense, involved drug? Does acid disconnect you from reality more or less?
3) Should I be nervous about acid?
4) How long should I expect to trip for if I take a moderate amount for a first time user?

@hankstowers, ah, glad to see you’re not a real troll :) anyway,
i feel it’s similar, that acid is more just for fun and shrooms really make you look inside yourself, with similar dreamlike visuals going on of course. The trick I think is, to remember that shrooms are just a trip….it can be dark at times. I’ve only done shrooms a handful of times, I have neither the money nor the availability to access them regularly, but I’d like to try them more because the last couple times I’ve had them, the introspection was too much and I think i lost control of the trip……like wiping out while skiing.
2) Shrooms is more of a wompy high. You’ll most likely be fine on Acid. its technically safer for your body than alchohal, so id say less.
3) No. enjoy every minute of it..
4) About 6 or so hours depending on the dose.
1) With shrooms i usually feel like just chilling and drawing but with acid I feel like I can do anything, sports, chilling, dancing, interacting with people is much easier on LSD for me than with shrooms. I feel like there’s less confusion.
2) I’d say shrooms gives me more of a disconnect from reality.
3) NO! It’s awesome, and just like with any trip, it’s all in your head! Just go with the flow!
4) It’s hard to tell with acid but I’ve tripped anywhere from 7-15 hours on one hit of acid. Also, don’t let your acid in sunlight or near tap water, sunlight turns it into a dud and the minute amount of chlorine in tap water does the same.
Happy trails amigo!
Damnit I don’t think it posted.
Acid hits many more receptors in the brain than psilocybin. That means you are going to be able to have many different types of experiences with acid, and also there will be a greater sense of energy and alertness – because acid can hit the receptors associated with amphetamines (simply the ones that drive your energy levels up). Psilocybin is more introverted usually, as the outside reality seems to be a huge undertaking with a heavy dose of it. With a heavy dose of acid it is easier to interact with the outside world, even if it is wiggling like an ocean.
Psilocybin is strictly a tryptamine and thus creates massive distortions in perception.
Acid has a tryptamine tail, but also has amphetamine – like structure as well, allowing it to give you that higher alertness. But, it is still a tryptamine with close in potency to psilocybin, so the perception changes will be similar.
The two are going to be like mango juice compared to orange juice – you’ll notice a difference, but there are many similarities.
2) they are about the same
4) 8 hours (whole day)
@dowhatulike, Not sure how you can say with any authority or validity that shrooms dont come close to acid/lsd. Im sure most who have partaken of both will say they are similar but obviously for my acid is more energetic and shroms more introspective, but shrroms have been clinically proven beyond doubt to be very beneficial in many ways, and give a overall general feeling of wellbeing, etc for upto 18 months afterwards.Anyway thanx for sharing your views and even though at times we all cant agree its respected :)
For me, they were fundamentally different. LSD was much more intense, took away a lot more control, and took about 14 hours. (only 4-ish on shrooms). They feel very different aswell, but this is hard to explain. Shrooms is more ‘natural’ if that makes any sense, while LSD is more ‘disneyland’.
When I took LSD, it was LSD, or ACID. The way it was meant to be. The summers from 1969 to 1971 were the most colorful years of my life. I quit dropping acid around that time because we couldn’t find real Orange Sunshine any more or Purple Haze, or Strawberry Field in barrel or tab form. Thus the end of an era. I tried mushrooms and mescaline, and even blotter acid, but nothing came even close to the wonderful very colorful trips that barrel acid gave, especially orange sunshine. My favorite. On sunshine, buildings would melt, people would morph and although you may feel you are not in control, you are, no doubt. Acid is what you make it. Don’t do it alone. Do it with friends you trust. Think about what kind of environment you want to be in. It’s not like getting high on anything else, before you know it, you are fully engulfed, and there is no turning back. So plan on not doing anything responsible for awhile. Give yourself the whole weekend to enjoy it, then come down off it, and crash. It will take a toll on your body the first few times. It’s a 14 hr high, it peaks at about 2 to 4 hrs into it and stays there until you start to come down of it, or like some others call it…CRASH. I used to trim the crash by smoking a little weed when I felt I was about done. Yes, you should have some trepidations about taking acid. It’s not for the light harted, and shrooms doesn’t even come close. I don’t know what form today’s acid comes in or what its even made from. I doubt it is made from a real LSD formula. Any way have fun, and be careful.
So i know i just said we need to find more topics besides drugs, but i forgot that i had one more acid question:
-how long are you supposed to hold the blotter paper under your tongue for? is it supposed to dissolve, or do you just swallow it?
@ijesuschrist, that was very helpful! Acid sounds more like what I want then, the past few times I’ve tripped I’ve had that sensation where you kind of get lost in the trip and can’t really discern what life is supposed to be like, if that makes any sense? I look forward to a more alert trip.
@hankstowers, LSD was invented in the 20th century. While there were hallucinogenics available in Jesus’ day, acid was not one of them.
“LSD was first synthesized by Albert Hofmann in 1938 from ergotamine, a chemical derived by Arthur Stoll from ergot, a grain fungus that typically grows on rye.”
If you’re being honest and didn’t know, that’s okay. Now you do. But if you’re just trolling, it’s not cool and also not funny.
@theskafish, Hahaha yeah I’m just messing around. Honestly though I think that Mushrooms have much more value in introspective learning. I see lsd as more of a recreational drug, and psilocybin as more of an opportunity to learn and grow positively. But that observation comes from experience with less potency than some.
