Slowing down.

With life always seeming so rushed and so full of information these days its no wonder why so many people are cropping up with mental issues. Constantly in society we are bombarded with information (especially with computers now) and stressors that wear our body, mind, and spirits down. I think it’s important in order to maintain balance and peace in our lives that we must slow down at LEAST once a day. What do I mean by slowing down? Well, either some form of meditation or relaxation in order to balance yourself. If we are constantly up doing stuff and taking in information don’t you think we will eventually crack at some point in our lives? I know I did. So, I ask of you if you already aren’t doing this once a day to try it. Stop doing what your doing, sit down (maybe with a cup of green tea :) ) and relax your body, mind, and spirit. Do some form of meditation or maybe just focus on the now for awhile. Stretch out your muscles and lay down. Don’t use something to take your mind off being hyper active. Just observe it and it should settle down on its own. Try this maybe for a week and see how you feel after the week. IF you find it has made you less stressed, frusterated, angry, etc. throughout your days then keep doing it. If you find it hasn’t made an impact then stop. It can’t hurt to try though. Slowing down and paying attention is more important then you may realize.

@splashartist, a valid and accurate observation. I am beginning a detox/cleanse to start the new years and one of the primary goals of this process is, as you stated, just observing the process. I find when I get caught up in habit, its like my life is on auto-pilot and I am a prisoner behind some sort of plexi-glass. The goal of subtle awareness is to become a creator of your process and interact with the creation. Congratulations to you for taking steps in gaining “real” perspective in your life.

@splashartist, Well said, I totally agree! Especially about the green tea. I highly recommend getting organic jasmine green tea. It’s very healthy and very relaxing.

@ironmidget, Jasmine green tea is quite nice! I actually drink white tea myself. I buy Baihao Yinzhen white tea which is the most premium white tea in China and it definitely has some calming, sedative qualities to it. I recommend everyone trying it, once you do you wont go back to green tea lol! Cheers!

@christopherwnine, You bet! That’s good your starting out the new year with a cleanse! I myself have been meditating since I was thirteen and I once stopped for about 1 and a half years and I can tell you my life pretty much fell apart. I don’t understand how people can live on auto pilot so easily. For me it came with crippling anxiety. There’s no joy in life when you are just going through the motions and not actually LIVING. @splashartist, Today was a rather subtle day in regards towards energy. Soothing for a “New Year” :). Your post is a critical reminder that we must treat our minds with gentle hands. Jamming the brain with compulsive stimulation will lead to an inevitable break down psychologically; first hand experiencer!
