@eliot, maybe your awareness is derived from memories and if everything including memories were replaced then possibly the same awareness would occur

This is why I’m always uncertain when I see movies about people ‘transferring their consciousness’ into machines in order to live forever. I can’t help thinking that in the transfer the consciousness is actually gone.
