So today I had my very first Bikram Yoga session, and man was it hot. Everyone was sweating oodles of course, but it didn’t stink…
My theory is that it isn’t sweat that stinks, its the crap we put into our bodies. We all sweat, and its fluid leaving our pores, and it’s cleansing, so of course all the bad stuff will be coming out. I’m thinking that when you’re healthy (like I’m assuming most of those people were, they sure looked like it), and don’t feed your body crap and junk food, you don’t smell when you sweat, because it isn’t pollutants exiting the body, its just natural stuff.
That’s my random thought of the day, thoughts?
well, it isn’t actually the sweat itsel that stinks, it’s the chemical reaction of the sweat mixing with the bacteria on our skin when it starts drying, and of course the pheromones of people you find either unattractive or in competition with for “mates”
Healthy sweat doesn’t smell much, unhealthy sweat does. But most of the smell comes from dirt and bacteria. Sweating in clothes is bad for the skin, and that’s part of what causes the smell. Not to mention the hot dirty air that builds up, and the smell of which mixes into the sweat. Clean sweat doesn’t stink, only dirty sweat does.

I watched a show on Discovery about that and they said that symmetric bodies smell less. So if you want to have a really repelling smell, exercise only a half part of your body. Yes. Just don’t get obsessed with symmetry and smells and you’ll be fine.
