I don’t know about you guys but I love marveling at some of the amazing creatures that inhabit this world. You guys should post photos of ones you have come across. Here are a few: http://www.greengoblin.com/internal/corner/shark.jpg Blanket Octopus: http://mrbarlow.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/blanket_octopus.jpg No idea what this one’s called: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m174coWtYd1qiu90co1_500.jpg |

floating sea slug (attacked by jellyfish above): http://australianmuseum.net.au/Uploads/Images/7651/j054_big.jpg Dragonfish: http://www.borneo.com.au/images/divefish/reeffish4.jpg From Life on Earth (Attenborough), discussing a particularly bizarre fossil hoard in the Rocky Mountains: There are several creatures which . . . are rather complex in structure and quite unlike any other animals we know. One had 15 segments, a trunk in front of it’s mouth and five eyes, including one pointing upwards. Another, named rather despairingly by the scientist who first examined it Hallucigenia, had seven pairs of limbs beneath and seven tentacles waving above, each of which ended, apparently, with a mouth. |

@brandon -I’m so glad you posted the close up of that bug. Today in my Bio Lab we were checking the dominant eye color of fruit flies with a microscope.. It was scary at first seeing them so up close and personal but it was fascinating at the same time. star nosed mole and a soft shelled turtle… whaaaat?! |

Just watched a documentary about life on our planet, and this one freaked me out. It’s called the fringehead fish and has a crazy ass territorial display http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lxmd9h4mBH1qf43bdo1_500.jpg |

why has noone posted a platypus yet? :( that shit never ceases to amaze me, they have a 6th sense too, they can detect the release of electronic impulses around them, so if a crab buried under sand moves, they can pinpoint it D: |

I can’t believe no one has posted a cuttlefish yet! They are incredibly intelligent cephalopod closely related to the octopus and squid. They are like the chameleon of the ocean. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGMT99i00M4 |
