The belief in "chi" or the concept it presents.
The specific definition of chi would be In traditional Chinese culture, qì (also chi or ch’i) is an active principle forming part of any living thing. Qi is frequently translated as “life energy”, “life force”, or “energy flow”. Qi is the central underlying principle in traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts.
Now I dont agree with many things they beleive about it in the chinese culture but the topic of an underlying energy I have always find a really intriguing topic to consider. When you consider your consciousness (which well is what this website is all about) What is the driving force behind everything? I think it almost has to be considered a legitimate possibility in a way it also relates I find to the argument of whetehr humans have a soul, because really a soul could simply be that energy you as a person have and thats what makes you the natural(as opposed to learned or nurtured ) you. Could it be possible to manipulate your chi and have more success even possibly physically through this energy?
What do you guys think?

When I think Chi I think bioelectricity – the nervous system. Being that the body and the mind are interconnected I guess it makes sense that we can direct our Chi energy. I know that your Chi flows where your mind’s focus goes.
Manipulate your chi? Well, if you’re into cultivating better health with your mind there are ways you can do that.
Body awareness is probably the most important. Being fully conscious of the life of your body, the Chi that flows through it – Gaining control over your flow of Chi in this way. Also leading you to be more relaxed and attentive all the time.
There is also the cultivation of sexual energy which is studied in Taoism, it has to do with circulating sexual heat (which [someone correct me if I'm wrong] is Chi, but in a concentrated, volatile form) up the spine from the genitalia into the head and throughout the body – in order to transmute it into vitality for the whole body. Check out the author, Mantak Chia if this is something you’re unfamiliar with and interested in.
i think chi is equivalent to your blood flow
when chi masters channel their chi, they breathe in, putting air into the blood flow, letting it smoothly run around the body, people who have bad blood flow have bad chi flow, like smokers, bad eaters (clogging the blood) etc.
but i like what dan said about the nervous system, that makes sense, maybe they interact together, maybe chi is when your body works in perfect harmony with itself, efficient biology, and it has unlimited strength because of this
I actually was considering this topic mainly after reading something from this website. It was the article a conversation with god.
In it he (god) talks about as species evolved they began influencing things through the manipulation of energy rather than the manipulation of real objects as humans now do. That was just a really interesting thought for me, then it occured to me that this concept was almost like how people practice chi. I personally when people have run through chi meditations with me(where I practice martial arts) I sometimes feel it may actually have an effect. So maybe as a concept beginning to channel our own chi as we evolve as a species maybe that is the basis of things such as possibly telepathy? learning to manipulate your own consciousness and energy to do things with objects could be the next step. I dont know but I have been finding it interesting to consider.
@garret99, I believe that’s true. I wouldn’t doubt it is how the pyramids were made and various other ancient wonders. Ancient alien theory out the window.
We’re supposedly closing in on a shift in which consciousness will be as it were 13000 years ago, lucid – like an acid trip. This having to do with the Earth’s magnetospheric cycle. The change will of course approach at exponential speeds due to the elliptical nature. We could be going down the sink hole as we speak.
In fact, today has been one of the most significant days I’ve ever had, I’ve really been suffering lately and today I have been realizing so much folly of my ego, I’ve had a brief realization of death and I have become broken-hearted about how I have been living.
This is surely a revolution in progress, if only on the personal level I do not know
Chi is so f’ing mysterious to me. I feel I have only scratched the surface of it personally, but I can see how chi’s frequency could influence state of being. I can see this because I believe the law of attraction integrates chi of some sort by having environmental energy resonate with a person’s chi at a specific frequency.
So essentially I believe the state of your personal chi can influence your state of being/personality by how vibrant it is.
Who knows though, I probably sound like a chi noob to some people. All I know is that when I fell snowboarding a couple years ago and when my neck was temporarily paralyzed, some crazy orgasmic energy was flowing through my body and I was able to direct it to my neck. The next day my neck was back to normal.
I’m not one to believe in any ol’ theory, but some of the things demonstrated in this video require closer examination. It may not be entirely convincing, but it’s interesting nonetheless. Could this guy be harnessing bioelectricity, kinda like what @danfontaine was saying? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F3ovb2kZ9Q
@garret99, I have studied Qi Gong (Chi Kung) for a few years independently. There is one author in particular I reccomend. If you want more detailed information about Chi theory, I recommend getting a book written by Dr Yang, Jwing-Ming. He is master in several martial systems and has written over 30 books on Qi Gong. More so, he has a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. He integrates western science and chi theory in in a way that is fairly easy to understand.
For me, i have no doubt that chi is real. E=MC2, energy is everywhere, including solid matter. From my experience with martial arts and yoga, it’s pretty hard to deny.
