wow… fuck me. this is huge, mind blowing. –”People are enormously more complicated,” he says, “[Spaun] is nowhere near as intricate or sophisticated as human brains…it’s miles away.”– until they run 100,000,000,000 scenarios through it, which won’t take long |

this is incredible, i’ve been excited about AI and mind/computer connection ever since i saw this: |

man, sry for continuing to reply to this, this, is so exciting, soooooo exciting, so groundbreaking, i wonder if everyone will realize the significance |

@chodebalm, we already create brains that are able to create artificial brains, why would you want artificiality which is just the limited version of reality adapted to our limited linear way of thought? |

Is this to monitor how the brain functions? Or just to find out if it’s possible to recreate? |
|
| Tine
they use several ways to develop AI, and one of them is to model the human brain and how it learns, so its main purpose is start us down the path of an AI future, but i imagine it has a lot to do with to see if we can. and this article is groundbreaking, the significance is beyond imagining, sci fi, here we come |
|
| Tine
its all about sci fi man, this is the first step towards androids, truly, a tangible, first step, in that direction |

@tine, To do tasks likee what? Do our jobs for us, I hope they don’t make them look like humans because that would be creepy. hah. Would we put them together, for them to do our jobs we don’t want to do like work at mcdonalds lol. What if they get too smart? and like develop outside information by watching our behavior. Kinda creepy. Lol |
|
| Tine
lol, yea, you’re thinking along the right lines, its no longer an issue of ‘should we’, this article proves the reality is coming, so now its, ‘how should we’? |

The article left so much out. What was the IQ test? Did the people who made spaun make the IQ test? Were they intending to pass a specific IQ test already shown to them (so they could functionalize the computer to that test)? Now they can play chess and have decent IQ’s. Whats next, they’ll be cooking? …Oh Now, if they all just combined efforts… |

That’s pretty cool but it needs much more proccesors to simulate humans brain. Even if we get enough of them there is still a problem with reconstruction of the brain. I’ve read a lot about it and I think we’re gonna be able to create Ideally the same brain as human one in 400 years. |

Am I the only one who thinks that this might not be a good thing? lol Maybe I’ve just seen too many movies, but if we are modeling these things after us and the way our brains work, things could get pretty ugly… |
|
| Tine
i agree, but i think this article shows we are beyond wondering if we should, its time to start thinking how we will proceed from here |

this is frightening and very exciting all at the same time! the idea that we may have in fact caught technology up to our intelligence point is scary. the idea that it “evolved” a lot quicker than the human species is mind blowing, i guess we knew that this had to happen because of the rate of how it progresses! |

How does this computer simulation have meaning in reality? |

As Tine mentioned earlier, this is actually pretty huge. It’s a big deal. And just as someone else mentioned….it’s kinda scary. I think the biggest thing about this is….where do we go from here? I mean, we’ve created an artificial brain capable of thinking. What’s next? Skynet? A full blown machine-run matrix world? Think about it….at what point will A.I. be so advanced that we can’t tell a computer simulation from the real world? |
|
| Tine
did you check out that youtube vid? that’s where i see the technology going, alongside androids, we will improve our brains and bodies by fusing machine to it. consider the implications of a computer defining brain waves and what this means for us in 20-30 years with the advancement of AI and machines in general ever watch Ghost in the Shell? |

Terrible, terrible thing in my opinion. Yes, we are becoming more experimental but does that mean we are becoming more knowledgeable? I feel as though we already have a vast and unlimited amount of beautiful knowledge that we just need to follow ancient paths to tap into it. Artificial anything is just plain wrong in my opinion. Simplicity is the key. |

Everyone interested in Computer Intelligence MUST watch Jeopardy and IBM’s super computer WATSON. |
