…THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?

3 years, 3 months ago

my situation for the next month:
pretty much just hanging around grandma’s house with her and my older sister. Gma works nights sister may work day and night and I’m in Jersey with no one to hang out with, no car and sometimes i guess its hard to steer away from the tv or computer to go out for a walk every now and then – simply because of the sheer boredom. and I’m not in one of those areas where I can walk to a shopping mall, just a middle school/ public park around a bend…

what are some things you guys would do?

Umm…read up on some books, man. Expand your mind, learn about some new subjects or something. Or start working out–push your body beyond its limits, even if it is out of sheer boredom. Try meditation if you don’t already do it–take the time (that you already have) to get to know yourself while you can.

Wake up early, eat a large breakfast and distance run to somewhere new, different, or fun. You’d be surprised where your feet can take you. Meet new people to hang out with. Also do everything that jetsetplayboy said.

Enjoy it. Pick up a new lifestyle like working out everyday and continue when you go home in the month. Read books, meditate, write, there are many things you can do.

Do something new every day, whether it be a new exercise, reading a book, or just exploring the neighborhood. Get out there and do it!

I would just find a library. You’re bound to find something there that will grab your attention ( for me it’s biology, evolution, alternative history, spirituality, stuff like that) and you’re bound to find something that will capture your attention for a while. And to go along with the meditation suggestions, you might try yoga to go along with it. Even if you’re doing simple stuff, if you stick with it, it makes your body feel great and that inspires me to go out and do/learn even more.

Dude. You should build a skate park.

Or you could work on a car.

Or you could hustle to get enough money to throw a rager… just for the exercise in beautiful futility.

The problem with trying to cultivate an interest when you have time off is it’s too easy to just not do.

You already KNOW what you wanna do with your time… you just have to remember. Think with your long-term hat, but not your “responsible” hat. ;)

@Daniel yoga win! I love it just hate downloading shit on a hp mini…
@BirdFlyingHigh thats a great point: “The problem with trying to cultivate an interest when you have time off is it’s too easy to just not do.” and the rager idea just reminds me of college haha love the name by the way 4twenty friendly I suppose

Go jogging while listening to new books: I recommend ‘A Princess of Mars’ by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Invent something :)
Or write a song :)
Or do something creative like draw or paint a picture ( I suggest painting because even with little talent you can create something nice) :)

When i’m bored, I just come online. Games are good, but they have to be like “special” in a way (there’s lotsa games but make sure that if it’s multiplayer that you’re able to ignore the haters haha) I dunno, find a hobby. I shape stones, and write music. Isn’t it christmas soon? how about you and your sister team up and actually MAKE an awesome gift for your grandma?

Get in a routine. Improve yourself anyway you can. Try not to fall into the mind numbing apathetic winter lifestyle. Practice learning how to blow shit up with your mind.

I agree with Daniel, Youtube has so many yoga videos and channels solely dedicated to it, it has something for everybody.

My boyfriend’s been out of town and I’ve been pretty lonesome, so I like to sit in B&N and read for hours and hours :) They have a pretty big self-improvement section with great selection (and big cozy chairs)! I’ve been reading the newly published “This I Believe”. I highly recommend it to all my fellow HEthens.

So find a liburry and read up! There’s lots to learn.
