Hey guys, I was talking with a friend the other day and we starting discussing our beliefs on paranormal phenomenon, such as ghosts, cryptids, the afterlife, aliens, etc. This got me thinking, what do my fellow HEthens believe? Whether its from personal experience or just reading stories, what are your views on any matter of the paranormal? What do you guys believe, or not believe in? Cant wait to see what you guys have to say!
Ghosts? IDK for sure because that stuff can be explained by hoaxes. On the other hand, my mother and brother are firm believers.
Aliens, I’ve seen them myself. Woke up in the middle of the night one night, I was maybe 13. Golden light was flying around shooting off red and blue lights. Then, once in a while, it would turn silver and stop mid air for a few minutes.
Another time, I was chatting with a coworker in the parking lot at night. Suddenly, 3 orange lights in a pyramid shape zoomed silently overhead. These things were huge because they weren’t close to the ground, but still looked huge, easily. I have a picture of them on my phone.
I was like, wow, but my coworker thought they were man made or not real or something. Then we joked about it.
I used to be a huge materialist, and then certain things opened up my eyes to the *possibility* that there might be a slight chance at *something* after death (not the fables promoted by religions though).
I think skepticism is good, but when we take it to the extreme and call anyone who goes against what science/academia tells us a worshiper of woo, we’ve gone too far. But that’s just me and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Whether I say I do or don’t, my overactive mind always thrusts me into the “but what if” mentality. I mean it’s hard for me to say “yes, I think they are real” but sometimes my imagination gets the best of me and sleep evades me for that evening.
@boribori90, Wow, those sound like some interesting experiences. I have only witnessed one object I thought may have been a UFO. It was in a triangle shape with 3 red lights at each corner, but I also believe it may have been a low flying jet.
@ahende12, I would like to believe that there is something more going on than the mundane, but I really don’t see how there can be. Still, until I have the proof in front of me either way, I can’t say for 100% certainty that there is or isn’t anything paranormal. I can’t even say that all the science in the world is true, only the science that I personally have seen in action. And the afterlife is something I really have a hard time with, I would like to believe it is there but I don’t see how or why we should have any reason to believe in an afterlife.
What do you believe, and what makes you think the way you do? Have you seen any paranormal activity with your own eyes?
Ghost: I choose to believe there is some truth to everything people say, think, and do. I do not believe that people’s perception always match what is close to reality. With that said, I have personally experienced both auditory and visual hallucination is such ways that I believe most people who do believe in ghost would consider what I saw and heard to be ghost. Do to the confidence I have in my reasoning, I over came such fears and misunderstandings, which allowed me to interpret such events as moments of physical weakness. Whether it was fear, dehydration, or sleepiness I was always able to explain what had happen (not that I didn’t jump to conclusions at first). Even after all of that, I still believe in the possibility that there is life that exist outside the human observational spectrum but I would not call them ghost or spirits; rather I would call it as an unexplained life form.
Aliens: I believe they exist but more importantly I wonder why they would visit. The only logical explanation I could come up with (and I’m not saying I have any evidence) is that they would want to save their genetic code. For a DNA sequence is infinitely more valuable then all of the resources in this solar system combine. That is of couse under the assumption that even 0.0000000001% of all UFO sightings are real.
Afterlife: I believe we lose all memories and become one with the universe.
@ahende12, I firmly believe in spirits. I don’t believe that they’re all like active beings that are conscious of what they’re doing, or that they’re scary or evil.
I didn’t believe until i had 2 strong experiences, one with a personal spirit that was from a friend that passed (which didn’t completely convince me because I thought my brain might just be that powerful), but then I had one with a random spirit where he told me a lot of information that I could not have known otherwise, and I looked it up and checked out the facts of what he said and they were all right. It was a really powerful experience.
I don’t know how much I believe in a soul, but I do think we are a form of energy once separated with the body. As much as I say I don’t believe in ghosts I really do, I have had too many experiences that convinced me. The fact that we are even here can tell us that anything is possible if you think about it hard enough. What is perception anyways? There are so many different dimensions that yes maybe we are tapping into a different form of energy, but I really don’t know. Also, the stories people have who have died for minutes and then come back to life have me convinced. Growing older we are supposed to believe in less and become more educated/less naive; learning more about science and others experiences has really actually taught me that there is so much more possibilities than I had ever previously thought. Aliens, YES of course they exist, but I have many theories on that. Aliens I feel can time travel or something like that. If aliens are actually just us from the future, I don’t know. All of that realist bullshit, is bullshit. Reality, is not simple and easily understood the way some people try and make it seem. The fact that it is all so much more complex is what gives me hope in this world, because a realists reality who doesn’t believe in possibilities seems so bleak. And life is so much more interesting the more really know.
