You’ve defined escapism as trying to make your current situation ‘better’. I agree. Is weed often used to escape? Absolutely. I do it a lot.
However, can you see a situation where weed makes your current situation ‘different’ without defining better or worse?
If someone smokes in moderation without dependence or necessity, is it still escapism?
Ex. A guy smokes pot one time and after says "Hmm that was cool" and never smokes again. Was the drug still an escape from reality? Or just a different new experience, like many non-drug related experiences.
i smoke weed probably once a week, sometimes more or less, and it makes me think about a lot of things, i get really curious and learn about things; for example this website. but i think weed is not bad if you are responsible with it and don’t overuse it. I’ve been smoking for like 5 years and i’m not dumb, i’m doing good in school and i’m happy with life, i see everything in a positive or realistic way, but never negative. I’m all good lol. Weed keeps me young and makes my brain stronger; it will prevent me from Alzheimer in the future; weed can be healthy in some cases, but in others no, obviously. i know I’m killing a lot of neurons but i have plenty. Moderation is a good word on describing the way i smoke MARIJUANA.

I going to comment before any research here, I heard it increases your chances of catching alzheimers and and other mental illness such as schizophrenia?
Weed is here to use it, so I use it and because it is a release. I use to be the classic stoner when I was a bit younger. Read my short autobiograpghy if you carry interest (you should totally write one too man, i love hearing stoner stories). But I only smoke when I have the right blank time to fill. As oppose to getting high every opportunity someone wanted to, going to work, going to school,going to family events ect. Not good I almost took the joy out of it for me.
get in your room alone, smoke a blunt and then just let it flow.

so yeahhh get high and read things you like, like on wikipedia, or anything on the internet or in books, but try to concentrate. if you eat after you get high you will just get tired.
Don’t get stoned, just smoke little by little.

@Jets I will warn you it is a gateway drug, only because it activates the curiosity compartment in the brain (did for me anyways). Though if you have proper friends I’m sure that won’t happen. Theres many ways to explore your brain without buying illegal drugs. You can even cut a pingpong ball in 2 and put tape it over your eyes, put a red bulb in a lamp and listen to radio static on headphones (this is just a theory I’m going to test it soon). If it actually works I think that would be an awesome experiment for you to try out aswell!
Let me know how that goes…and I doubt I’ll get hooked or step up to anything worse–I can’t really afford it. Like I said, if I do try it, I’ll only have about two days a month that I actually have the time to enjoy it. I’m not gonna get baked an hour before I gotta go to work–that would be a waste of weed. lol
I think in time you will step up, not to chemicals but keep it natural and hit the mushrooms. And my advise on that would be have good friends with positive energy and go camping man. Wake up earlier make strong tea and enjoy nature at its best. It’ll kill any anxiety trips to be at peace and you’ll be able to sleep at night!! I don’t know why I wrote that hahaha

I know all about that staying up curse,just wishing you could sleep hahah. I once did mushrooms at 11pm and while on my peak at 3 am I popped a double stack budwiser (E)…I was up for 2 days, total shit
weed can definitely be good. I was a regular consumer for about a year and a half (nearly every day) until I started having anxiety attacks a few months ago (unrelated to weed; more likely related to poor diet/stress-inducing lifestyle). At that time, it seemed to exacerbate my anxiety, so I cut myself off for a while. Now that my anxiety’s a bit more under control I find that smoking 1-2 times a week benefits me in so many ways, including reducing my overall anxiety.
I’m kinda moving away from weed smoking lately. I like it every once in a while but it doesn’t do much for me overall except make me hyper aware of my every thought and speed my thought process up, make me hyper while I’m high and then tired as fuck once I’m not anymore. I really prefer being sober nowadays.
