What classes are you in right now/what are you learning?
I’d love to hear what all you hethens are putting your brainpower into!
I’m learning how to bake pastries, trying to improve my business skills, and learning Linux. I’m also brushing up on my French when I can.
So, what are you guys trying to master?

One of the more interesting things I’m learning to do is generating emotion through focused intent/prayer. You’d be surprised how little there is on the topic. I’m now diving into the acting realm to find methods.
Nice topic. I’ve been drawing a LOT lately, but what I’m mostly devoting my brain power to is playing instruments. I took about 5 years of piano lessons from ages 10-15 and recently got a keyboard again for the first time in a few years. I also got an acoustic guitar and picked up the harmonica the other day and fell in love. My best friends are brilliant musicians and I jam with them sometimes which is new since I previously only read sheet music or transposed existing songs into piano tunes. I feel like I was built for this. The only problem now is choosing between instruments; I just jump between them for the time being. :)
@birdflyinghigh, i like your question. whats linux? I’m taking chemistry and i don’t like it too much. Something interesting though, the other day our professor was talking about atoms. Say you took an atom and you blew it up to the size of a NFL stadium. The nucleus of the atom would be the size of a golf ball in the middle of the stadium. (this includes stands as well). The electrons would be in the space but are even tinier than that. Electrons themselves can’t even be pinpointed to one location, it’s all probabilities of where they might be. So what I started thinking is what are we really made of then? Pretty much just space and probabilities of things combining in that space. So why does it seem like everything in our world is so “physical”?
@flightfacilities, you are in 15 classes at once? How does that work? I see from elsewhere in the thread you’re a triple major – kudos to you, get all those degrees while you still have the steam. I couldn’t care that much if I tried, anymore :P
@kyle27, Linux is an operating system that is used among most free-ware computing platforms. Apple products have an operating system that is based on Linux. It is sort of like the “universal language” of operating systems.
Just about to write my final exams for high school in History, Drama, Art, English, Afrikaans and Maths. Going on to varsity next year to study History, Drama, English Language and Linguistics and French. Super excited :D
I just started a philosophy major at university. The courses I’m presently in are:
- Intro to Metaphysics
- Ethics in Practice
- Introduction to Ethics
- Philosophy of Science
As far as learning outside of school goes.. I do the following:
- Nutrition, health/well-being, vegetarianism/veganism
- Musical instruments (electric/acoustic guitar, piano)
- Eastern philosophy
@vernalsoul, Yes! =] that’s a really good career choice and I think you’d be doing right by a lot of people. I have to say, if the world had more VernalSouls around, we could all forget about Al Qaeda and the Bill O’Relly’s of the world. Instead, we’d probably be exploring space and learning some real deep truths about the universe from extra-terrestrials or something like that. Good on ya for that
@kyle27, I was wondering if a nucleus is so tiny where the electrons can be so far away (if I’m correct, base on what they taught me in high school chemistry, there can only be a maximum of 8?), what lies in between the electrons and nucleus? Is it matter or is it some sort of empty space? That has always boggled my mind.
Right now I’m taking 4 classes, 1 of which I don’t go to because I can care less about that subject (mostly because my professor has the worst and thickest accent that makes it impossible to understand). The classes I’m are Business applications, Database management and Integrated Marketing Communications.
At this exact moment, I figured out that highexistence isn’t blocked on my school server. I’m in the math in sports class”working on my fantasy football”. Don’t judge, I just needed the math credit.
Unfortunately I’m stuck in gen eds for my third year. So biology, algebra, philosophy, and social work. I quite enjoy learning though, if i respect the teacher and feel i’m getting important information I eat it up. I will be studying Social Work as a major, which sucks because I don’t really like it, but I have to do it to get a Master’s in Occupational Therapy. I’m going to learn all about the human mind and body [:
