What classes are you in right now/what are you learning?
I’d love to hear what all you hethens are putting your brainpower into!
I’m learning how to bake pastries, trying to improve my business skills, and learning Linux. I’m also brushing up on my French when I can.
So, what are you guys trying to master?

I just started a philosophy major at university. The courses I’m presently in are:
- Intro to Metaphysics
- Ethics in Practice
- Introduction to Ethics
- Philosophy of Science
As far as learning outside of school goes.. I do the following:
- Nutrition, health/well-being, vegetarianism/veganism
- Musical instruments (electric/acoustic guitar, piano)
- Eastern philosophy
@vernalsoul, Yes! =] that’s a really good career choice and I think you’d be doing right by a lot of people. I have to say, if the world had more VernalSouls around, we could all forget about Al Qaeda and the Bill O’Relly’s of the world. Instead, we’d probably be exploring space and learning some real deep truths about the universe from extra-terrestrials or something like that. Good on ya for that
@kyle27, I was wondering if a nucleus is so tiny where the electrons can be so far away (if I’m correct, base on what they taught me in high school chemistry, there can only be a maximum of 8?), what lies in between the electrons and nucleus? Is it matter or is it some sort of empty space? That has always boggled my mind.
Right now I’m taking 4 classes, 1 of which I don’t go to because I can care less about that subject (mostly because my professor has the worst and thickest accent that makes it impossible to understand). The classes I’m are Business applications, Database management and Integrated Marketing Communications.
At this exact moment, I figured out that highexistence isn’t blocked on my school server. I’m in the math in sports class”working on my fantasy football”. Don’t judge, I just needed the math credit.
Unfortunately I’m stuck in gen eds for my third year. So biology, algebra, philosophy, and social work. I quite enjoy learning though, if i respect the teacher and feel i’m getting important information I eat it up. I will be studying Social Work as a major, which sucks because I don’t really like it, but I have to do it to get a Master’s in Occupational Therapy. I’m going to learn all about the human mind and body [:
I’m currently getting my undergraduate degree in Jazz Studies and music education. I just got to do an entire concert of Miles Davis arrangements with a top of the line big band. It was a dream come true. I believe anything is possible if you just focus your mind!
@tangledupinplaid21, Cool to hear that music/creativity is being touched on.
I am doing a film and television course. The classes are screen studies (which is fascinating because we have an awesome teacher), editing, screenwriting (which is cool cause that’s what I want to do) and prac, which is alright.
What is PE that everyone keeps mentioning?
I’m taking sustainable development, environmental ethics, japanese philosophy, english, and math. Though i have been really interested in quantum mechanics, learning about “consipiracy theories” that have some truth to them, and some other stuff. i spend a lot of time working out, playing basketball, boxing, raquetball, running more now, meditating. i’ve been practicing/learning lucid dreaming for a few weeks now. I also make some raps every once in a while. i try to stay busy doing things, and if im not doing things, i might as well meditate!
I finished my bachelors in biomedical sciences and am now a second year in podiatric medical school. Right now I’m taking:
Medical microbiology II
Podiatric medicine I
BIG load but getting through it step by step!
People & the Environment- how we interact with the world and its resources and how we are going to be screwed if we don’t stop our mass consumption.
Film Studies- How to analysis every little detail in any film I watch.
Algebra- How much I hate math
Interpersonal Communication- How people communicate with others, factors that effect how, when, why we talk. Different kinds of communication and the difference between cultures when it comes to interacting with each other.
Digital Photography— LOVE! Tuning up my skills with my camera.
@vernalsoul, There’s lots of focus on the brain, nervous system, neurotransmitters, and their internal structure and function.
Essentially, it explains what causes and allows us humans to act the way we do on a molecular level.
It’s a good course to take if you want a psych BA or higher. It relates to medicine and body chemistry so it’s important to understand when counseling patients with psychological problems/ are on medication.
Currently studying Sex and Ethics, Philosophy of Mind, German (Grammar, Oral and Translation), German Cinema and German Politics/Law.
@alanwatts I’m about a month into my second year of a Philosophy degree, a piece of advice; any time it gets a bit too much just drop it and go outside or do something physical that doesn’t involve your brain for a while. Best way to clear your head is to not use it for a while.
