I’d love to hear what all you hethens are putting your brainpower into!
I’m learning how to bake pastries, trying to improve my business skills, and learning Linux. I’m also brushing up on my French when I can.
So, what are you guys trying to master?
At this exact moment, I figured out that highexistence isn’t blocked on my school server. I’m in the math in sports class”working on my fantasy football”. Don’t judge, I just needed the math credit.
I finished my bachelors in biomedical sciences and am now a second year in podiatric medical school. Right now I’m taking:
Medical microbiology II
Podiatric medicine I
BIG load but getting through it step by step!
@vernalsoul, There’s lots of focus on the brain, nervous system, neurotransmitters, and their internal structure and function.
Essentially, it explains what causes and allows us humans to act the way we do on a molecular level.
It’s a good course to take if you want a psych BA or higher. It relates to medicine and body chemistry so it’s important to understand when counseling patients with psychological problems/ are on medication.
I’m doing a commerce degree 2nd year majoring in finance and economics. Economics can be really relevant and even finance I mean I think people should do a intro course cause you can learn so much seeming everyone has a bank account and people toss reccesion all the time but don’t even understand what it’s about!
Sounds like everyone is learning some interesting stuff.
I’m finishing up my last year o high school so i got all that general ed that goes with but I’m also taking a principles of business management (the school counselor advised I take this class on grounds of me stepping my ‘hustlin’ game up, for real, she said that) & horticulture at the community college. The horticulture class is sweet, we spend two hours on a farm each week and dig in the dirt and play in some greenhouse. I’m learning alot.
On my own time, I’m doing my best to learn some music theory, Ive been playing piano for sometime but I wanna start jamming on other instruments with other people. Thats fun too.
@flightfacilities, you are in 15 classes at once? How does that work? I see from elsewhere in the thread you’re a triple major – kudos to you, get all those degrees while you still have the steam. I couldn’t care that much if I tried, anymore :P
@kyle27, Linux is an operating system that is used among most free-ware computing platforms. Apple products have an operating system that is based on Linux. It is sort of like the “universal language” of operating systems.
I just started a philosophy major at university. The courses I’m presently in are:
– Intro to Metaphysics
– Ethics in Practice
– Introduction to Ethics
– Philosophy of Science
As far as learning outside of school goes.. I do the following:
– Nutrition, health/well-being, vegetarianism/veganism
– Musical instruments (electric/acoustic guitar, piano)
– Eastern philosophy
@vernalsoul, Yes! =] that’s a really good career choice and I think you’d be doing right by a lot of people. I have to say, if the world had more VernalSouls around, we could all forget about Al Qaeda and the Bill O’Relly’s of the world. Instead, we’d probably be exploring space and learning some real deep truths about the universe from extra-terrestrials or something like that. Good on ya for that
I’m currently getting my undergraduate degree in Jazz Studies and music education. I just got to do an entire concert of Miles Davis arrangements with a top of the line big band. It was a dream come true. I believe anything is possible if you just focus your mind!
Currently studying Sex and Ethics, Philosophy of Mind, German (Grammar, Oral and Translation), German Cinema and German Politics/Law.
@alanwatts I’m about a month into my second year of a Philosophy degree, a piece of advice; any time it gets a bit too much just drop it and go outside or do something physical that doesn’t involve your brain for a while. Best way to clear your head is to not use it for a while.
I just started a week ago but basically:
– Cognitive psychology
– Physiological/biological psychology
– Pedagogical psychology
– Probability theory and mathematical statistics for psychologists
– Protection of the population and the environment
But if I don’t start making music soon I’m gonna go insane.
