This is a GREAT question!
From what I understood you are saying exchange enlightenment/higher thought for desire/emotion.
If this is what your question is asking I would definitely NEVER do this.
The reason why humans do EVERYTHING is because they think they are going to feel a EMOTION (in the moment or in the future).
If I did not feel any emotions higher thought/enlightenment will be worthless.

I value them both, but I agree with @smorris926. Plus, I like the challenge of reaching for a higher level of thought. If I was already there, I wouldn’t be as motivated to expand my mind, so to speak.

I think part of enlightenment is listening to your emotions and desires and deciding if they are important enough to take action on. Maybe seeing that you have the wrong desires and evaluating what is causing such emotions. That way you make a decision on whether you are just being overemotional or its a serious matter.. Who knows though

Not feel emotion would make you a psychopath – clinical definition.
As emotion emits remorse as well as consciousness/subconscious morale.
You wouldn’t gain any more enlightenment than an ant with no emotion/desire as that is what drives human beings as a species to discover and learn more.
So in essence its sort of contradictory in itself.
