@coletteculbertson, I love Global Concepts. I just heard it about a week ago and I fell in love.
@kmhumber17, I have my Pandora station set to Indie Pop Radio and I’ve been listening to it nonstop for about a week now. It repeats a lot of the same songs so I guess it doesn’t have much variety yet, but you should check it out!
@kmhumber17, The title and first post are a little misleading and confusing, what I mean is do you want to know the songs that make us feel amazing or do you only want indie music that fits your tastes? I’m really into hip hop, not the crap on the radio I’m talking about real hip hop that involves skill, and I can think of a lot of awesome songs that might go over most peoples heads because they don’t have the same appreciation for lyrics as I do. That being said some songs that make me feel awesome are not about the lyrics, instead it is the raw emotion and deep message that resonates with me. So I would like to post some of these songs but if you only want songs that fit you tastes, as your first post seems to say, then I will refrain.
Whenever I hear Train my mood gets lifted. Trains great lyrics and upbeat music take me away and put me somewhere else that makes me smile. Meet Virginia takes me to a happy place and time in my life. I think certain people and places throughout our lives are identified by the music shared with those special people.
Ahh, there are so many.
Hilight Tribe – Free tibet (and many other songs of theirs)
Alt-J – Taro
Edward Sharpe and the magnetic zeroes – 40 day dream and many other songs
Alcoholic Faith Mission – My eyes to see
Argatu` – O sesiune pe folclorul romanesc si aroman and other songs of theirs
Silent Strike – Top Instrumentals
Mark Farina ft. Sean Hayes – Dream machine
Grimes – Genesis
James Newton Howard – Solomon Vandy
Then some stuff you can find on soundcloud
And most of the stuff from DUB FX.
Ehh, it’s amazing how the vibrations and frequences of some music can put you in a specific emotional state. To be honest, music is what made me open my eyes and started my awakening, it just finally made sense.
I’m also a sucker for tribal and folk music so I sometimes just put on a mix of african, arabic or native american traditional sounds and fly above places I’ve never been to.
@thunderfeet, I completely missed that when I was making this! Thank you for pointing that out. Of course I am open to hearing people’s favorite songs regardless of genre. I am just focusing more on Indie because that’s what I like to listen to mostly and I need new songs. If you have any suggestions for the hip hop songs you like, I would love to hear those also!(:
http://8tracks.com/anewlon10/oh-the-places-you-ll-go this entire playlist is upbeat indie sun is shinning magic will happen no bad in your world kinda music. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face. guaranteed. Noteable happy songs on it are 500 miles by The Proclaimers, Mr Blue Sky by the Electric Light Orchestra and Send Me On My Way by Rusted Root.
Joe Pug is quality folk-rock – I suggest “Hymn #101″ or “The Great Despiser”
Ben Howard’s ‘Every Kingdom’ album is pretty much flawless front to back.
And if you’re still hanging around check out The Tallest Man on Earth. “Like the Wheel” & “Troubles Will Be Gone” are wonderful.
To answer your question in the title, my answer is without a doubt Angels & Airwaves. Love that band! Their LOVE Part 1 & 2 Albums always take me on such a trip and bring me back to such an amazing place when I’m feeling down.
For something closer to your genre of choice, I think you would REALLY love a band called Attack in Black, especially their “Curve of the Earth” and “Years” albums. Very mellow indie/folk stuff, probably very close to what you are searching for.
Here’s a track from them, my favorite off their Years album:
If you like that and are interested in some more of their music, send me a private message and I’d be happy to hook you up :)
@kmhumber17, Well its not indie and might not be your taste, but I think this is one of the most beautiful things in the world: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEfS98F89Ho If you don’t like what you hear at first, I would skip to the 5:18 mark and listen from there on. I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed in that part.
