Do they? Is there really a difference between good and bad? Or is it possibly us attaching labels too or awarding “value” points off the various situations encountered in living? Of course there are many “bad” or unfortunate things that can occur in ones life however i can’t say that those “bad” or unfortunate things happen more often to “good” people. Some of the most unfortunate or “bad” things often turn out to become fortunate and auspicious if viewed from a different perspective after time has smoothed out the rough edges. |

I know a person who was driving and swerved and braked their vehicle to avoid hitting a grouse (aka wild chicken-like bird), dropped the vehicle on it’s side and her young son was killed. This was a bad thing. No silver lining on that cloud. |

Subjectively bad. Not objectively bad. That story has no effect on me. Not bad for me. Only “bad” for her. |

Good and bad does exist to our feelings. If we loose something or someone we love we feel bad. You can not say it does not exist that it is a label, it is a feeling, right or wrong it exists. |

@Ray Butler That’s exactly why good and bad doesn’t exist. If you lose something you “love” and feel bad about it, that’s all because of your thoughts about it. The loss didn’t hurt, your thoughts about it did. Check what’s going on in your mind next time you get upset, I promise you’ll find some interesting stuff. |

Your right, it does not physically exist, but is a concept. Can we say that something that is a thought does not exist because it does not contain a concrete physical structure? |

Yeah, I think I see what Manimal is saying, that thoughts in a way do exist but we can control them, how they affect us even emotionally. |

Yeah. Some call it vibrational access, others call it attraction or other things like that. Basically, if you feel good and think good thoughts, you will access/attract more good feelings and thoughts. It becomes a feedback loop, everything becomes a feedback loop in the subconscious mind. Keep it up for a while, and before you know it you’ll be truly high on life. Most people live their whole lives with very negative feedback loops/snowballs/whatever you wanna call it. It’s no wonder bad stuff happens to them, because having constantly negative thoughts and feelings will put you in situations where “bad” things happen. Whereas positive feelings and thougths put you in situations where “good” things happen. Anything you feed your mind, it multiplies. Of course it thinks that whatever you think is exactly what you want, why else would you even think the thought? That’s what really happens behind the scenes of far out ideas like law of attraction or creative visualisation etc. There is tons of really good stuff out there in the world, but since most people are so damn negative they LITERALLY cannot even see these things. |

Dwayne: I wish I could just sleep until I was eighteen and skip all this crap-high school and everything-just skip it. Frank: Do you know who Marcel Proust is? Dwayne: He’s the guy you teach. Frank: Yeah. French writer. Total loser. Never had a real job. Unrequited love affairs. Gay. Spent 20 years writing a book almost no one reads. But he’s also probably the greatest writer since Shakespeare. Anyway, he uh… he gets down to the end of his life, and he looks back and decides that all those years he suffered, Those were the best years of his life, ’cause they made him who he was. All those years he was happy? You know, total waste. Didn’t learn a thing. So, if you sleep until you’re 18… Ah, think of the suffering you’re gonna miss. I mean high school? High school-those are your prime suffering years. You don’t get better suffering than that. |

I’ve only seen the movie, which sucked something awful. The book could be right though, I haven’t read it. |

dont bother. you have the idea down pat. the book was just about as hyped as the movie. the good news is that it does give your average joeblow the idea to use their mind for something more than the usual garbage nagging bitching negative bullcrap. |
